He is a legit prospect, just looking at his wrestling record. Let him keep building up his resume, and working on rounding out his game.

I just hope the Herpes thing show up at the wrong time and force him to pull out of a big fight at the last minute (It already has cost him once).

Valtrex is an anti-viral medicine. It is used to treat other types of Herpes as well.

Yes, he’ll have it his whole life but it’s only contagious when the outbreaks happen. When the outbreaks happen, he takes the medication (I believe he said it was Valtrex in an interview with Sam) and the outbreak goes away rather quickly. The kind of virus that Paul has is unfortunately extremely common in the wrestling community. As long as he doesn’t have an outbreak on his neck while competing there should be no risk of spreading the disease. I may have been incorrect about Valtrex being an antibiotic, as I’m doing a bit of research now and see that it’s actually an antiviral medication.

Anyone who is a two-time All American at Iowa, one of the nation’s best wrestling programs, is going to be a highly touted prospect coming into mixed martial arts. I wouldn’t say it’s due to his competition level, but at this stage of his career it’s more about setting him up with the right kind of fights and making sure he’s not in over his head. But his wrestling credentials are what makes him a highly touted prospect.

He’s explained it all in a past post, the breakout comes on average about 1 a yr for him. It’s treated with Valtrex, A number of college wrestlers get it, it’s called gladiatorum. He even said he knows a few ex-wrestlers in the UFC that have what he has…. I’m assuming one of them is Koscheck, Bradley replaced Kos as coach of the wrestling team Kos was on.

Are you sure about the antibiotics? Herpes is viral, not microbial. Once you’ve got it, it’s permanent. There are some medications available to reduce and minimize outbreaks, but outbreaks have to run their course.

Wow, I just looked at his opponents records. Why is he so highly touted?

the 5 guys listed on Sherdog are a combined 27-36 and one of them is 23-20.

I don’t want it to sound like I am fighter bashing because I don’t mean it that way. Just curious. Has he blown through these guys?

how do they let him fight when he has the herps on his neck?

Isn’t there a risk of spreading it to the other fighter?
