I was checking out some headlines this morning and came across this little nugget of info in the Las Vegas Sun:
Move over Killers and Panic at the Disco, another Las Vegas-based band is poised for national recognition.
Hard 8, kicking around the local club scene for six years, has signed an agreement with the UFC to use 17 of the group’s songs during upcoming events.
Ultimate Fighting Championship, based in Las Vegas, is the largest mixed martial arts organization in the world so the band should gain some degree of instant fame.
Why am I even bringing this up? Because I’ve been extremely critical of the UFC for using the same dated rap/metal music beds on its telecasts for what seems like the last 5-6 years. It’s time to “freshen” the broadcasts up a bit. Hopefully Hard 8′s music doesn’t suck and will be used to replace a lot of the stale beds.

Stemm’s music to me was and will be the soundtrack for the UFC, but they can do a heck of a lot better in ’08.
I’ll listen to those Hard8 tracks later, but I’m not expecting to be blown away.

Fighters should be able to choose out their same music… or at least the UFC should get some hardcore bands or something similar to do some stuff?
Evergreen Terrace anyone? So many of their songs would be perfect intros, hell I used Wolfbiker the first time I competed.

I just listened to their songs on Myspace. They all suck. A couple of them have decent beats but the vocals all suck. Their lead singer sounds like his is really nervous, not to mention half the songs he isn’t actually singing. I hope this is a false report.

I think they’re good at their genre. They use a wide variety of instruments both electronic and non. I don’t like the vocal style but today’s kids sure do.
I think this is actually a pretty good choice for the UFC, I mean they need to update it somehow and they could do a lot worse.
