It's galling to read quotes from Shaw suggesting that EliteXC represents MMA and hyping Kimbo. I'm really conflicted about the upcoming CBS broadcast. On one hand, I want it to succeed for the benefit of the sport. On the other hand, I don't want newcomers to think that Elite/Shaw/Kimbo represent the best of what the sport offers. If I had to guess, I'd say not a lot of money changed hands for ads. But it was weird, like Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee contradicting one another, one after each. I'll record the Chuck shows for later consumption and watch Elite, so . . . I guess the adverts were wasted on me. I figured the Chuck tributes were a direct response to the Elite ads.
