Conditioning is a huge factor but when you have 2 1/2-3 months to prepare for a fight and then have enough time to take off to recover from training in the weeks leading up to the fight compared to 6 weeks to train full time and fight maybe 3 times its totally different. For instance, Mac was a LW before and fought at 170 in order to be on TUF and get into the UFC. Of course, due to the time frame of shooting and training restrictions, it would be hard to get guys that walk at 200-215 pounds and have them make weight in order to fight at 185 and stay close to it for weeks. It is just a logistical problem that goes along with filming TUF and I believe this is why we see many of the fighters drop classes after the show. They just can't be as successful in the real mma world where you cut weight on a regular time frame. I think the problem is, many of the TUF guys fight over their established weights. The only solution would be to space out the show, that way fighters would have time to cut weight for each fight.
