- These UFC dipshits act like they’re getting paid to be mouthpieces. The show was a success. I don’t care how you look at it. No, they’re not UFC nor may they ever be but the show was a success. Any other interpretation and you’re an idiot.

- The dancers must go. Again, whore strippers do not equal ratings.

- They do need to change the walk-ins. The walking slowly down the ramp by yourself thing is just stupid. Boxing/MMA entrances work because they have the team and the flags and it’s just nice. Go to what they usually do.

1st – I noticed Burger King was advertised all over the place, Miller Lite, Street Fighter 4, and several other huge sponsors. You obviously are retarded or blind to not see any of that. Oh and Elite doesn’t have to worry about advertisers, that’s CBS ‘s problem and they had some new commercials for great movies premiering so I’m sure that made them a pretty penny.

2nd – Kimbo facing a low level opponent? Umm JT has 20 + fights with a winning record, Kimbo had only 2 fights? Do you really expect Kimbo to fight a guy who is 50- 0 considering he’s only been training MMA for less then a year???

3rd – YOu think the viewers are going to hate the product because they showed a pre-taped interview of Kimbo saying good luck Gina? You’re probably the only one who has that on their mind.

4th – Go to bed , you youngins have school tomorrow and shouldn’t be on the internet late at night

5th – Those refs Dan Mirgliotta and the other both worked several of the latest UFC cards, same with the doctors. You do realize that they are not on the Elite or UFC’s payroll right?

1) Even with all the unintentional comedy on this card ( EXPLODING CAULIFLOWER EARS!!) this show reach about 8x the numbers of viewers compared to the typical UFC PPV. Or about 4-5 times compared ot the last Fight night which barely scraped 1 million.

2) EliteXC HAS to get rid of the dancers. Or bring in hotter dancers….I don’t know. The ones they got now are just in the way, not interesting at all.

3) For some reason the EliteXC walk-in doesn’t generate enough excitement, compared to Dream/UFC. Not sure why that is, maybe they should make the walk-in longer…

people seemed to have already practice what they were going to say negitive wise about this show BEFORE THE SHOW EVEN STARTED…lol

1. i saw this at a casino (pechanga) and while most of the other fights had a few people watching… the kimbo fight had everybody watching… AND GUESS WHAT .. IT WAS (might not have been the most tech. fight ever) an exciting fight… there were twist and turns… not the 20 sec ko ,,, nor was it a couple of fighters scared to engage…

2. kimbo in this fight couldve done no good with regards to all the ufc staffers that post on this website or the HARDCORE mma purists …. he couldve gogoplata thompson and there response wouldve been , “well its thompson, he sucks” … the fact that he showed he didnt quit, overcame adversity and pretty much does what he is best equipt to do (punch) … i dont see how he lost….. a quick ko wouldve been worse imo.. cause at least the public got to see a competitive fight (kimbo losing on scorecards)

3. everybody is quick to hate on gary shaw but dont realize WHAT HE IS… a promoter… and he got this org. on NETWORK TV… evidently it wasnt a flop , and he has cash cow in KIMBO slice…. why do people think that shaw owes MMA more other than to make money for himself and his fighters…. kimbo 3 fights in is making as much or more than 85% of the ufc roster…. why is that a negative on shaw and not on the ufc..

4. IT WAS FREE… who cares… free tv saw 5 “fights” not hug fests not guys scared to engage… yeah no crap the wec event tonight might be more MMA pure (whatever that means) but who has versus??? pay cable??? and the internet wont be going nuts over it….

And on top of THAT, their refs and ring-side doctors also looked ridiculous, which basically resulted in the entire organization looking Mickey-Mouse to the world. So yeah…what a rousing success by EXC.

“Their” doctor is supplied by the NJSAC. Same with the refs, who are regulars for the UFC.

1. this Elite XC card was horrible to watch. Between the dancers, Busta Rhymes, the descriptions of the holds, Frank Shamrock and oh yeah, the fights it just all came off like a low budget production.
2. People complain about the cost of PPV but the fact is you get what you pay for and if I am going to have a group of friends over on a Saturday night I would rather split the 45 bucks five ways (or suck it up) and enjoy what I am watching. Fact is, unlike boxing PPV’s when you get a quick knockout your night is over early, in UFC you actually get to see more fights never feeling cheated the way you used to when Tyson was destroying the heavyweight division.
3. To no one’s surprise Kimbo has proven to be over hyped. Now Shaw must make him fight quality opponents to give him any chance at credibility. I am in agreement with many people that have stated Kimbo should be boxing and his ground game last night proved he has no place in MMA.
4. The outcome of the fight is quite apparent when you watch the replay. Thompson who has proven to have no chin weathered quite a storm in Round 2. If you look at the replay what you will see is Thompson was actually more hurt in Rd 2 than at the stoppage in Rd 3 but they did not stop it at that point because of the reputation of his chin. The twist here is that he came back from the onslaught in Rd 2 and shocked everyone by taking Kimbo down and peppering him with pillow type elbows. For this matter once he was hurt again in the opening gof Rd 3 there was no way they were giving him another chance to repeat the performance of the previous round.

It’d be interesting to plot and compare subsequent shows #’s to see how it goes… But how do you distinguish between a particular fight cards draw versus a general growing interest and popularity or general morbid curiosity as a buzz develops.

Also, I’m not sure how I feel about “the masses ” getting “into” MMA. I mean surfing and motorcycles are good analogies from my standpoint. Look whats happened.. 2 foot slop at the beach and there’s 50 guys out. Try to do a poker run or hit the sweet back roads with the guys and you’re stuck behind , well you know who, with their satelite radio, intercoms, matching outfits, etc,. (not that there’s anything wrong with that….) but you know what I mean… $hit changes not for the better, in most cases, defaults to the lowest common denominator.

Of course the UFC is better and of course the UFC would have done better. That’s obvious and frankly stupid to even point out.

The fear was the show would be a colossal failure, tank in the ratings, and not be back. The very opposite of those things happened. Be as hateful as you wish but exceeding expectations is all they could have hoped for and they seemingly did that handily.
