More fights round out DREAM.4

With the Arlovski news of the day flying around, I will sneak in that DREAM.4 looks to be finished as more fights were added overnight on their site. Added for the event were bouts between Alistair Overeem and Tae Hyun Lee as well as a fight between Pancrase veteran Alavutdin Gadzhiyev and Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira. This brings the full DREAM.4 card on June 15th to:

  • Alistair Overeem vs Tae Hyun Lee
  • Alavutdin Gadzhiyev vs Cacareco
  • Mirko Cro Cop vs Ralek Gracie (grappling match)
  • Hideo Tokoro vs Darren Uyenoyama
  • Shinya Aoki vs Katsuhiko Nagata (LWGP)
  • Zelg Galesic vs Taiei Kin (MWGP)
  • Jacare vs Jason “Mayhem” Miller (MWGP)
  • Gegard Mousasi vs Dong Sik Yoon (MWGP)
  • Kazushi Sakuraba vs Melvin Manhoef (MWGP)

Wait, did they just get a card done with more than a week to spare? What the hell is going on over there?

The Japanese seriously want Sakuraba to die in the ring.

  • To be fair the fans voted for this round’s matchups on DREAM’s website.

When they voted they voted for the long dreamed of match of Sakuraba vs Tamura. Tamura had to pull out and it just so happens the GP replacement was Melvin Manhoef. The good intentions of the fans in Japan might kill a man.

Pretty sure Sakuraba is demanding a recount right now.

I’ve lost count here. What generation number is Ralek? And after his crushing victory over Cro Cop, will he ascend into heaven in a chariot while surrounded by choirs of white belt angels?

Seriously… when I think Cro Cop “grappling” is not the first thing that comes to mind… “kick to the head” perhaps….

  • Zack says:

Crocop’s reasoning is ludicrous – improving his grappling in a competitive match during an MMA show. I’d think hitting the mats in practice or entering grappling tournaments might be a better spend of everyone’s time.

i’m STILL kinda laughing about the CroCop grappling match..
even if CroCop has been working on his ground game or something.. why would he accept this?? I mean, there’s no way he can beat freakin’ brethren of the CREATORS OF BJJ!

    but..
    idk..
    we’ll see..

i can’t wait for this card..

“I’ve lost count here. What generation number is Ralek?”

    just ask JJG..

Aoki will be in the right for the FOURTH time this year, crazy. Thats like 3 years worth of fights in the UFC.

  • Rich S. says:

HAHAHAHA… i bet we’ll miss him all the way until he comes back..
    lol jk.
personally, i think JJG’s one of the funniest people that posts on this site..
i know his article selections for his bashings are well thought out and planned.. and i assume that’s why he hasn’t posted in a while.. but.. any time there’s something about a striker.. or a Gracie.. he’ll jump right in..

and this time it’s about a striker AND a Gracie..

    uh-oh!

i’m sure we’ll see him soon enough..

Yeah, make your card up 3 months in advance and see your main event changed 4 times (UFC 85).

  • emmy says:

The cro cop math isn’t as mad as it sounds. He only has to stay out of submissions for a couple of rounds, then it goes down a draw. He probably won’t get a win but a draw is highly possible. And a draw in a grappling match against a Gracie can’t be too bad for his record, surely?

Please add a Poll for those of us who are confused by CroCop grappling.

Question: What will happen in the Dream 4 grappling match Crocop vs Ralek Gracie?

    Possible answers:
    1) You mis-spelled “grappling match, it should be “left kick of death match”.
    2) It doesnt matter what the match is called, Crocop’s kick is so fast, we wont see Ralek get kicked… he’ll just spontaneously pass out.
    3) Crocop will show his improved grappling and that he has become a more well rounded fighter.
    4) I want to see Crocop fight, but just not grappling PLEASE.
    5) Crocop is going to lose.
