let’s just say.. that.. we all know Diaz would beat Noons if he was performing like he did in the Gomi fight, or in the Inoue fight.. but.. those fights with Aina and Noons were different.. he said that he was sick for the Aina fight.. because he flew all the way to Hawaii the day of the fight.. And obviously he performed the same way in the Noons fight.. although, i would assume that was Mary Jane related.. but judging from his last performance, at DREAM, i would say he will dominate this weekend..

@#24: You can tack Washington, Oregon, and several other states, towns, and counties to that list, across the country. Your attempt to use Oxycontin as an example means you either have no experience with the two and don’t understand that wild difference in addictiveness between weed and Oxycontin (as well as strength of the drug and potential for overdose, go visit NIDA if you don’t believe me). If you could OD on weed I guarantee you it wouldn’t be being slowly legalized around the country.

Did you know there are over 300,000 medical marijuana patients in the US already?

#24 We don’t need to recognize anything, half the people on this forum you are preaching too probably smoke jane. You probably smoke it. Also this isn’t a mary jane forum. You guys aren’t researchers or politicians or police so get over it. Your opinion on the subject does not matter. Diaz makes exciting fights, he does not duck opponents, and he’s fought some top competition. The guy gets my respect and after Edwards beats Noons then Diaz can challenge Edwards. We also need to recognize that while so-called “medical marijuana” is indeed a treatment for glaucoma, cancer, and exteme pain, it reduces testosterone as well. This is something that an MMA fighter should be avoiding.

The problem with states like California is that they are literally prescribing Marijuana for problems that it should not be prescribed for. What we are seeing is defacto legalization of marijuana. What would happen if Oxycontin was prescribed for a condition of “feeling down”? The Dr. who did so would likely lose his license to practice. What if “Oxycontin clubs” began to form around California? The state would shut them down pronto and arrest the proprietors.

Marijuana is treated like illegal immigration in California, just something that the brave new world must accept as normal and beneficial, which is hardly the case…

I’m the world’s biggest Nick Diaz nuthugger, but I admit his past two performances have been extremely shaky. Noons was straight whipping his ass. I disagreed with the doctor stoppage, but there weren’t many indications he was going to turn it around. That being said, Nick and Nate have both shown they can take punishment and then pull victory out right at the edge of defeat. I would have liked to have seen Nick at least given that chance.

@#15 Maybe you should familiarize yourself with California state law. As long as he has a prescription, he just needs to pass his piss tests. Big deal, stop smoking for a month before his fight- he’s failed what, one in his entire career? Stop acting like weed has ruined his career. ALCOHOL ruined Evan Tanner’s career, Diaz will still be more successful in his career than most of us will ever be in ours.

Adam, he could still have pulled out a win. He didn’t get KO’ed TKO’ed, subbed, or tap out. He was still able to defend himself. He lost in pretty much the least determinate way possible. I’m not saying he won the fight up to that point, just saying it sure made Noons’ job easier to not have to finish out the fight.

Noons was beating Diaz handily in this fight. Cuts or no cuts, Diaz was getting outclassed on the feet and he was getting kneed in the face or stuffed every time he tried to take the fight to the ground. Poor performance by Diaz, period. Don’t forget that Diaz squeaked a split decision out against Mike Aina in Hawaii the fight before that at Uprising. He was not on his game either of these two fights and KJ was putting it on him regardless of cuts or not.

I was a fan of Diaz but it seems like he has turned up the jerk factor of late. While it is true that I do not know him, I still do not like him. The way he ran like a baby after Noons beat him was ridiculous. Try not blocking punches with your face before you get so upset.
His brother seems like an okay kid, but Nick is annoying.
Personality aside, his fight against Gomi is an all-time classic.

#14 – he’s passed all or plenty of tests? Plenty? So he’s never missed out on any opportunities at all based on suspension? He’s never missed out on any promotional opportunities or sponsorship possibilities based on suspension?

Gee, I guess I misread the news a while back.

If you see little difference between a fighter who uses an illegal substance versus a fighter who uses beer (which I’m relatively sure is legal in most, if not all states and countries not run by Muslims), you need to familiarize yourself with suspensions for use of illegal substances, because there is a huge difference. If you use the illegal substance, you are “harming athletic potential” by risking suspension.

Again, save legalization debates for the High Times editorial board – Diaz has chosen to fight in a country for an organization that submits to guidelines that require adherence to a code of conduct which penalizes those who use illegal substances, fully disclosed and defined by the organization he fights for.

Again, if pot is that important to Diaz, he should fight elsewhere under different standards. Apparently, pot has clouded his judgment, and I rest my case.

@#12 He’s passed plenty of piss tests. If he doesn’t want to worry about passing them he can fight in a country where they aren’t required like Japan. In terms of harming athletic potential I see little difference between a fighter who smokes a little weed (or vaporizes or eats it, which removes the lung damage aspect) or one who drinks a couple beers. Actually, eating a weed brownie is probably healthier than drinking a beer.

Rumor has it that Noons knocked the doobie out of Diaz’ mouth during the fight, and it has yet to be found. “Damn, that was good bud…” Diaz said after the fight, apparently confused as to if he had won or lost, or had been in a fight. “How come my nose is bleeding, dude? Did I fall off my skateboard?”

On being asked about his need for medical marijuana, Diaz claims it is used to help him with his rheumatism…

What about the pot?
Great guys, great athletes, are not necessarily one in the same – but both will show great discipline. Diaz is a pothead. Can’t stay off the tree when it matters most.
An athlete has only so many years in his absolute prime. In that time he must be self motivated to make himself absolutely physically ready to perform, educate himself so that he can effectively manage the wealth he amasses during that time and discipline is the common core ingredient to making the most of that window of opportunity.
Diaz is physically gifted in his athletic field, giving him a great start and advantage. He does not honor the gift he’s been given, does not maximize his window of opportunity. Instead, he smokes pot.

I have no respect for that. I don’t need to meet him personally. I don’t need to hear what he thinks is the cause behind his irresponsibility. He is wasting his opportunity and shows no regard for himself.

He’s pothead, Fokker. Surprise! We live in a world where that’s not acceptable. Sign all the petitions you want, write in regularly to ‘High Times’, but if you want to be a productive member of this society, choose a field that doesn’t require a whiz quiz. Practice guitar or something. The Grateful Dead made a lot of money for a long time being high.

That’s not possible in this sport. Diaz is an idiot.

That’s not entirely accurate. Diaz needed the surgery to remove scar tissue and make his face less prone to cutting in the future, not because Noons did so much damage. Noons just happened to be the fight where he got fed up with getting cut so easily. If anything, Noons should be glad he fought Diaz BEFORE the surgery, since they made his win a lot easier than it would have been otherwise.
