Why is it a big deal? it’s New York City guy!! It may not be big news to the fans outside of NY, but it certainly is to the UFC. New york city is the business, fashion, and food capital of this country. It’s a marketing and advertising mecca. It’s the financial epicenter of the United States. Getting sanctioned in New york and being able to run live shows in the Garden is big time bucks for the UFC.

I hope this goes through, so many Dana will bring some decent cards to the NJ/NY area. If not, I hope he gets pissed at NYC and brings an AWESOME card to NJ out of spite.

Questions remain. Why would you say “the deal is done but my employees don’t even know” when it’s not even out of the committee. Why would you rent out a place to tell employees this when it only affects a small percentage of them. Even if they have a show in MSG, how many fighters can perticipate, 20? How many shows could they have? Two a year? If this is the big announcement then Dana has really lost it. He’s to the point where he thinks every announcement he makes is huge. This is news that could be sent in a company wide email, not get everyone together to tell them at the same time.

This isn’t the Mind Blowing Announcement. If you read the interview from espn the magazine you would have noticed Dana White said “the deal is done”. If NY just turned down sanctioning MMA then there is no way that this was the announcement.
