Maybe he got himself confused with Gina Carano and thought that maybe the UFC would make a special division just for him to be champ in. Getting a win at a catchweight bout should not advance your standing in a real weight division. I agree that it was lame how he wasn’t forced to try for an hour in the sauna (like Lutter). You say Marquardt easily handled him but it took some illegal strikes and a piledriver to make him look that dominant. He didnt have to almost KO Gomi with an illegal knee to get him in that Gogo and even with beating him legitimately he was never ranked higher on any set of rankings anywhere. So by that logic you should of answered the question that Yes Leites should be looked at as higher on the MW food chain because Gomi still was looked at as the better fighter after the Diaz fight. It's just that he has THE most dominant champion in his weight class along with a solid splattering of time tested top tier talent he needs to overcome first, along with any new comers that rise up in the future. Bisping certainly could get the title, but I'd put it at a less than 50% chance, thus false. And btw Cobra Kai, good point on the Silva/unbeatable stuff. I agree with ya and it's worth mentioning.
