Report: Riggs not cleared by CSAC; Fickett to step in to fight Luke Stewart
MMA Rated is reporting that Joe “Diesel” Riggs has not been cleared by the California State Athletic Commission to fight Luke Stewart on the Strikeforce show tomorrow evening in Sane Jose, CA. No reasons were given for Riggs not being cleared to fight but one would think that it has something to do with his back injury that occurred just over four months ago.
The report goes on to say that Drew Fickett, a natural welterweight, has been slated to step in on short notice to fight Stewart. Fickett had been slated to fight Jake Shields for the EliteXC welterweight title in July but that fight has since been cancelled.

I would think CSAC should maybe should come out and deny a fighter a little earlier than 30 hours before a fight. Seems like California is becoming a circus for any MMA that passes through.
I agree that the time frame of events at some MMA bouts is crazy, this included. I thought that the CSAC was there to protect fighters? I think that the CSAC is putting fighters and promotions in bad postilions. The fighter who take the short notice fight has not had the proper time to prepare. The promotion is put in a bad spot with little time to find a quality fighter. The CSAC should be looking out for all parties best interests, that is the job description right
Let’s start a new thread, brock has hit us, and now moved on too. You can give him McCully or the like, but no, they give him a superstar in Pride….. I’ve seen Pride from #1 till the end, Herring is now joke and is the real deal.
xx2000xx, what are you talking about?
