A planned light heavyweight bout between Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and former UFC veteran Vernon “Tiger” White that was set to take place at Affliction: Banned on July 19 in Anaheim, Calif. is off, according to a report on MMAjunkie.com.
Nogueira is the twin brother of UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
Junkie is reporting that White will not be licensed to fight because he positive for a banned diuretic after a May 31 Xtreme Fighting Association event in Las Vegas.
Nogueira will remain on the card even though a new opponent has not yet been secured. When contacted by Junkie for comment, Affliction Vice President Tom Atencio indicated that the promotion is interested in signing Edwin “Babyface” Dewees as a replacement.
Affliction: Banned will air on pay-per-view and is scheduled to be headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia for the vacant WAMMA along with heavyweight bouts featuring Josh Barnett vs. Pedro Rizzo and Andrei Arlovski vs. Ben Rothwell.
