Jesse Taylor “very likely” to be fighting for the UFC on July 19

June 30, 2008 by Sam Caplan

Several reports on the Internet have indicated that middleweight Jesse Taylor could make his UFC debut during UFC Fight Night 14 on July 19 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a source connected with the show would not confirm that Taylor’s involvement was official, but stated to FiveOuncesOfPain.com that his involvement was considered “very likely.”

When contacted by Five Ounces of Pain for a comment as to whether there were any validity to the rumor, an official with Team Quest in Temecula, where Taylor trains, would only state that “nothing is finalized for him.” It should be noted that the source did not indicate whether Taylor was being considered or not.

Taylor was a member of the cast for the seventh season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and had qualified for the finals of the show against Amir Sadollah. However, he was removed from the finale after an incident was depicted on the show of an allegedly intoxicated Taylor kicking out the window of a limousine on Station Casinos property.

Station Casinos is owned by Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, who collectively own 90% of the UFC.

In addition to breaking the window, UFC President Dana White said on the show that a drunken Taylor verbally accosted several female patrons of the hotel and that when confronted by security, he remarked, “Do you know who I am? I’m a UFC fighter.”

Wow, I guess he did a couple of years worth of “growing up” in the past couple weeks that Dana said he needed…looks like McCarthy but acts like Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds…

Man would I love to see that fight. Dolloway will have to be highly motivated after two consecutive losses to Samir, and Taylor will be out to prove that he is the uncrowned TUF champ.

Mike, it’s Amir. Samir is a programmer who works at Initech.

Which Michael Bolton song is your favorite?

Amir, Samir. Blame it on too many hours on help lines for technical support.

Dolloway vs. Taylor should be a close fight. I think they will both get on top of each other and ground and pound each other at the same time…I dunno now, but it’ll happen.

‘I’m thinking I might take that new chick from Logistics. If things go well I might be showing her my O-face. “Oh… Oh… Oh!” You know what I’m talkin’ about. “Oh!” ‘

    “an allegedly intoxicated Taylor”

Allegedly? Did you even watch the episode?

MMM… “Not right now, JT, I’m kinda busy. In fact, look, I’m gonna have to ask you to just go ahead and come back another time. I got a meeting with the Bobs in a couple of minutes”.

CB v Jesse would be a good fight, and if Jesse wins it would set up a natural fight with Amir. A loss for CB wouldn’t be good, and would probably put him on the UFC bubble.

This is just a name that I am throwing out there, not a rumor or anything I’ve read or heard, but don’t you think Jake Rosholt would make a good opponent. Dana wanted to have him on season 8 of TUF, but he wants to fight at 185 instead of 205. I just think he is at about the same stage of his career as Jesse, CB, or Amir so he would be a natural fight for any of those guys

I’d like to move us right along to a Jesse “Coco the Monkey” Taylor. Now we had a chance to meet this young man, and boy that’s just a straight shooter with upper management written all over him provided that he gets by C.B. Dollaway

  18. Babalu on July 1st, 2008 12:46 pm

Jake Rosholt would be sweet! He’s a beast of a wrestler, but not sure of his stand-up

@#14: A libel suit is an ugly thing, can’t hurt to cover your ass.

  20. Vic Mackey on July 1st, 2008 3:16 pm

HexRei, maybe you missed the part of the episode where Dana is questioning Taylor and he admits he was drunk. Truth is an absolute defense against libel claims.
