Combat in the Cage returns to Delaware on Saturday, July 12

poster-300w.jpg First, let me apologize for the lack of posts by me. I’ve had to do a lot of work recently that is responsible for paying my bills. Some of the things I’ve been working on are two articles for FIGHT! magazine as well as two features for CBSSports.com (a breakdown of the current UFC light heavyweight landscape this week and a profile on Wilson Reis next week). We’re also working on a few business-related deals behind the scenes pertaining to 5 Oz. The potential deals would be virtually meaningless to the average reader of this site, but they are a big deal to us. I’ve also started training again after a long period of time in which I wasn’t training at all. So yeah, I’ve been pretty busy and I still am working on a few other projects.

I am looking forward to getting out and seeing some live MMA this weekend. While Matt Cava is planning on being in Atlantic City for Battle Cage Xtreme 5, I will be at Combat in the Cage’s 14th Strike at the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club in Newark, Delaware. The fights start tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET.

If you’re interested in going to Combat in the Cage, tickets can be purchased at the door. Directions to the Boys & Girls Club can be found by clicking here. You can buy tickets in advance by clicking here.

You can check out the complete card by clicking here, but the match I am especially looking forward to is a cruiserweight matchup between Tim Williams from Millville BJJ and Matt Andirkut of Team Loch Haven. Joe Pond will also be competing in bantamweight action, and he had one of the most brutal knockouts I’ve ever seen in his last fight.

In other CITC-related news, my wife, Andria, is slated to fight on CITC’s August 16 card. I’ll have more info on that in the future, but we’re looking for sponsors. Interested parties can e-mail me at SCaplan8 at comcast dot net.

“Some of the things I’ve been working on are two articles for FIGHT!”

Sam, I love this magazine. I have a subscription and am glad they’ve brought you aboard. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a very affordable, well put together MMA mag.

Fight! is awesome but they consistently have problems getting people their subscriptions and customer service is non responsive.

But once you manage to start getting them, its the best MMA magazine around.
