well the mma news a conflict of interesting 13-0 LHW title challengers without doubt adds plot to the Bisping vs. Leben event. It also looks as though the UFC was at last able to find a man that was willing to fight Machida and win, lose or draw I think Thiago Silva should be highly praised for tolerant the fight so many men did not.

I agree. and i take a step further. this fight does nothing 4 machida if he wants to get a shot at the title. he needs to fight a top 5 guy. t.silva is good fighter no doubt, but who has he even beaten. i think the ufc is just trying too hard to get chuck another shot. why didnt they set up a #1 contender’s match between chuck n machida? they both would’ve been ready.

I’m with romano on this one – I find all fights interesting regardless of style as long as true skill is being displayed. Usually the balance or combination of skill – heart – fitness – agressiveness will win the day. Isnt that what we are all fans of?

The debate constantly appears to be weather fights are entertaining or not. Heres a double edged sword for you – the big money ruins sport yet sport cant do without the big money.

I was just reading in the UK Telegraph that there are only 2,500 tickets left for this event that haven’t been sold. The card has really become full of good fights, glad to see the fans are turning out for it.

God I hope thiago somehow manages to avoid all of Machida’s attacks and just taps him 5 times a rd to win on points.
#28 See the thing is how much damage does Machida inflict? or does he just give a little tap, run away and repeat? If it wasn’t for the knee in the Titto fight Ortiz would of hardly had a scratch on him, so did he win a fight or just avoid one. Machida in my opinion has to do more, more attacking, more attemps to win within the time limit, more grappling, more …just more. Ali would fire the jab and attack a lot, Machida on the other hand often avoids, avoids, fires a quick blow and then avoids and he does this for the whole damn fight. This is NOT what MMA is or ever has been about, this sort of fighting in MMA is relatively new and NOT the norm. So please don’t try and tell me what combat sports are about, cuz Machida’s style is very different to 99% of MMA fighters past and present, which tells me that it’s not what MMA is normaly about, it’s different. MMA is not just about brutality and violence but it is full contact fighting, so fight.
Go Thiago! make this dude fight and Machida attempt to finish or go back to Karate comps. I for one don’t want to see MMA being dominated by tap and run fighters.

the whole point of combat sports is inflicting damage or scoring points without taking damage……what the hell is wrong with people? i guess muhammad ali was boring too…i mean, you could just lock up a couple of bums in a phone booth and tell them that the one that gets out alive gets a big mac, that would entertain you morons that think that a fighter who uses elusiveness is boring.

Not every guy has an iron chin, not every guy carries massive knockout power…some fighters need to depend on elusiveness and gameplanning to be successful, and it is those fighters that are usually the most skilled..if you think brutality is what combat sports are all about, then your oppinion is worthless…you really are just a boob only interested in violent crap…go youtube kimbo.

Maybe I’m being too cynical but here’s why. Forrest is rumored to have his 1st title defense on the New Years show. Slim chance that the winner of Machida/T. Silva would be available for that show. BOTH of them are more deserving of a title shot than Liddell. I fear this fight will be used as a bogus excuse for Liddell is getting 1st crack at Forrest.
