5 Oz. of Pain sets new single-day traffic record

FiveOuncesOfPain.com broke its own single day record for page views on Sunday, July 20.

Thanks in large part to the interest created by dueling MMA fight cards this past Saturday between Affliction and the UFC, 5 Oz. of Pain received the most amount of viewed pages since the site’s inception.

Our previous single-day record was set on June 1, the day after EliteXC’s debut on CBS.

A large part of our traffic was received through Google searches, and as such, we’d like to give a special welcome to all of our new readers. This is your site for insider MMA news and opinion. We’re a site that is not only widely read by fight fans, but also by promoters, fight executives, managers, state athletic commission officials, and the fighters.

We also want to thank all of our existing readers for their continued support. We still have spent no money on marketing yet our reach continues to grow. We realize that a large part of our growth can be attributed to word of mouth advertising. Please continue to tell your family and friends that you “read it on 5 Oz.!”

And of course, we can’t forget our sponsors: Triggonomics and Ranger Up!

We continue to grow but we aren’t even close to reaching our peak. We have a lot of big things planned for the future. Stay tuned!

I remember that day. That’s when I, and thousands of others searched ‘Gina Carano’ on google after seeing her gorgeous mug on tv. fiveounces was one of the first to pop up. I’ve been on this site ever since. Gary Shaw is a genius.

It’s no exaggeration, I check your site every 10 minutes or so all day. It’s what gets me through my work day…well that and crystal meth. But that’s neither here nor there really.

Gary Shaw is a genius for getting casual fans to watch MMA, not for promoting great cards.

The Gina Carano angle obviously worked. There’s a reason 5ounces keeps a pic/link of her on the front page at all times. That’s genius.

Congrats. Well deserved. 5 oz. has the passion of the fan-driven website maintaining the polish of a mainstream website coverage of MMA.

    Keep up the fine work.
