UFN 14 averages a 2.1 household rating

The ratings are in for this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 14 telecast on Spike TV.
In a press release issued by Spike TV, the male-oriented basic cable network claims that UFN 14 averaged a 2.1 household rating with an average of 3.1 million viewers.
The telecast peaked at 11:30 p.m. ET during the Anderson Silva vs. James Irvin main event, with the broadcast topping out at 3.8 million viewers.
According to Spike, UFN 14 was number one during its time slot compared to all basic cable and broadcast networks in the males 18-34 (903,000 viewers); males 18-49 (1,550,000); males 25-34 (622,000); and Male/Females 18-34 (1,326,000) demographics.
When comparing the UFN 14 rating to other programs that aired over the weekend, the event attracted more viewers that Fox’s baseball coverage on Saturday afternoon. According to Spike TV, UFN 14 also did better in the males 18-34 and males 18-49 demos than ESPN’s Sunday night telecast of the ESPY awards.

Where does this compare to previous Fight Nights?
Aren’t these AMAZING ratings? I don’t think a fight night has ever broken a 2 rating.

Ok, I did some checking and UFN 13 (Florian vs Lauzon) did a 1.1, and UFN 12 (Swick vs Burkman) did a 1.2.
UFN 7 (Sanchez/Riggs) did a 1.3
UFN 8 (Salmon/Evans) did a 1.7
Can’t seem to find anything for UFN 9 to 11.
At some point somebody at a network is going to realize that UFC means ratings, and ratings mean advertising and MONEY. Wonder how much longer it will take.
Pretty sure the networks know the UFC can make them money, the question is if the UFC will be willing to sign a UFC style contract. which = a contract where they lose a certain amount of control.
It’s great that the UFC is pulling in such solid ratings, I just wish it was for a better event…
