This is one fight I have wondered about for some time! I think it’s a good matchup style wise, and it will be a good test for fedor! I still think fedor will pull of the win. After seeing the randelman fight, watching him get dumped on his neck and then pulling off the win, i thought that’s ” One tough f*#@ing guy “. The dream fight I would like to see would be FEDOR EMILIANENKO vs SERGEI KHARITONOV? Anybody else agree?

it almost seems to me that people still arent recognising king fedor as the undisputed mma champ.just like the night i saw him fight big timmy there was loads of people saying timmy,s jab is too much for fedor,fedor hasnt fought anyone at timmy,s level etc.36 seconds he made him look like a chump.he made the ex ufc heavyweight champ look like a little baby. i dont want to hear this crap about aa posing any kind of threat to fedor.its all bullshit.josh barnett would have the best chance against him but would still lose.i cant believe that certain people need him to beat randy before they recognise fedor as king.since when has randy been the king anyway?. i saw a repeat of aa vs big timmy in the ufc and big timmy knocked out aa and joe rogan said -bring on your fedor now.lolololololololololololololol. now i,m sure theres a ufc nuthugger out there who is gonna say something stupid about my comment.do your worst.

Rich I couldn’t agree more. Maybe we’re the few that think The Pitbull can win. It’ll be no easy feat for Andrei for sure, but I think the heavy, and very fast too, hands of Arlovski will prove tough for Fedor to counter-strike against in return. Andrei’s hands are very lethal, I mean look @ what they’ve done to Sylvia in the past(ala one right cross to knock dwn a 6’8″ 260 lbs giant). Not to mention the pummeling Rothwell took too, didn’t u love the blood splattered on the camera lens for that fight? On the ground it can be dangerous for Arlovski, even w/the highly skilled Sambo as Fedor is a Sambo master himself. I think to better prep himself for this bout, Andrei’s gonna have to improve the ground game a lot more. As far as the stand up exchange, I got Andrei over Fedor w/the hand power & speed as well as the footwork. Face it, Andrei is light on his feet w/some very hard & fast kicking legs. Not to mention good clinch wk w/some nice knees, where the long legs come in handy! Can I get an AMEN?

If Affliction sees Barnett/Fedor as its biggest match up, it makes sense to have Arlovski fight Fedor first. That would help build momentum for Barnett/Fedor. On the other hand, I’d rather see Arlovski fight somebody else before Fedor. Arlovski was tentative in his last fights in UFC, possibly because of his losses to Sylvia, and a crushing loss to Fedor might wreck his head again.

AWESOME- PROBRABLY THE BEST MATCHUP AVAILABLE FOR FEDOR- MAN, I WAS SO NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO FEDOR VS COUTURE AND THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA HAPPEN AND AM SO GLAD IT DIDN’T.. WOW! THAT MOVE RIGHT THERE IMHO SOLIDIFIES AFFLICTION AS A CONTENDER BECAUSE THEY KNOW WHAT THE FANS WANT AND KNOW ALOT ABOUTT THE SPORT AND ITS FIGHTERS- GO AFFLICTION!

Chicago is a great opportunity for both the UFC and Affliction!

The UFC has struck first with the Allstate Arena (seating capacity 20K) which is located in Rosemont, IL, (right next to O’Hare Airport and about 30 min. from the heart of downtown).

Affliction would be wise to counter the UFC by booking the United Center (also seating capacity 20K) where the Chicago Blackhawks/Bulls play. The United Center is located in the “West Loop”. The advantage is that the United Center is a 5 min. walk to the heart of Downtown and afterparties would be easy to get to rather than a drive downtown from the Allstate Arena.

In summary, Chicago is more than ready to host an event!

#27 makes a really good point. MMA was recently green-lighted in Ill and the UFC is headed to Chicago for UFC 90. It would be a nice coup for Affliction to host a show before the UFC gets chance to. Having it in AA’s hometown would put asses in seats as well as get a big portion of the crowd cheering for AA. When Fedor beats him, it could create that much more of an illusion of the ‘unbeatable’ Fedor…

This makes perfect sense.

The vast majority of MMA fans (casual and hardcore) knew Tim and most watched (or at least heard about) the Azz kicking. Tim was never beaten that way before…at least not so quickly.

Now IMO Affliction has set Fedor up with another MMA/UFC household name and I have to believe that they (Affliction) are looking for Fedor to decimate the Pitbull in a similar fashion.

If this happens it’s the perfect set up for Randy “Captain America” Couture to come in and “save the day”. Huge hype….HUGE PPV numbers. It makes sense.

This was very smart, scheduling a card in early October, UFC already has 2 cards in September (88, UFN15), and 89 and 90 on tap for the end of October, so I don’t think UFC will be able to come up with something live to go head to head with it, unless they start shifting fights around.

Affliction has 3 more interesting fights for Fedor – AA/Randy/Barnett, and if Fedor does what Fedor does (which is destroy people) then he is going to be a free agent again, and the only place left for him will be UFC, and that negotoation should go very well for him (Yeah, I’ve beaten your current champ twice (If Nog is still the champ), and I just ran through 4 of your most recent champs.

I expected this, after the Fedor-Sylvia fight… I expect also to see Fedor vs. Josh barnett on New Year’s eve in Japan. It’s already a tradition to hold a MMA event in Japan on New Year’s eve. Josh is very popular with the Japanese fans. Of course Fedor also. I expect a Randy Couture vs. Fedor fight early next year. I think Fedor will still win, BUT, Andre will make life harder for him. I think, it Fedor will win by strikes again, on the 2nd or third round. But I expect Andre to give Fedor a cut, maybe above the left eye : ), I think there will be blood, and you will see Fedor angry, like you seen him in the Fujita and Mark Hunt fights. Andre Arlovski will not be a walk in the park for Fedor. But Fedor will still win. I’m sure of it. It’s a good fight. I’m looking forward to it.

I wonder how the UFC is going to counter this event? Maybe they’ll replay a current PPV and UFN or perhaps an all day marathon on Spike TV? They could also do something with the WEC on Versus? Throw in a couple TapouT show’s with it. Something will happen. They’ll start planning for October 11th today.
