Production value of this show was much improved. I used to like Mauro when he called the PRIDE cards, but he’s starting to wear on me to the point I’d rather listen to Goldie. Where’s Bas and The Fight Professor when you need them?

i bet it did decent enough numbers on showtime and through reruns of those fights plus live gate they ended up okay. they were taxing their expectations anyway, you can’t develop mainstream stars for CBS in only two cards, patience gentlemen.

This site reported them incorrectly. That is not the readers fault.

Also UFC84 was being broadcast at the same time, plus Cotto/Margito drawing from the same base of fans.

The initial report was that they did 2.62 million, with a 1.0 in the 18-49 demo.

The OVERALL rating is 1.9.

Nothing was off. The only thing is that some folks misread and thought there was conflicting numbers. The numbers never changed.

Ratings can be confusing, and I think it is clear that some folks still don’t understand them.

2. BJJ in VA . . . “EliteXC is made up of hype without substance” I thought the fights and the presentation were actually pretty good. Better than UFN 14 in my opinion. I don’t think you can say that show was without substance, just because the first one wasn’t all that great. Also ‘Suge Knight’ has had THREE professional MMA fights and ONE amateur fight . . . give him a fucking break. Kimbo would get his ass kicked by any top fighter for sure, I’m with you on that. Kimbo has also had THREE FIGHTS. No one fights the top fighters in their first several fights. Those girls would probably at least beat Hermes Franca. UFC Washouts? So there it is, you are a Dana fanboy. I love Dana White, I watch UFC religously but at least I have my own opinion and can see through the bull when its fed to me. Antonio Silva, Robbie Lawler, and Jake Shields would beat the majority of UFC fighters in their weight class. You must be a great fan of the sport when you decide to badmouth an entire promotion because girls and suge knight are fighting. It was a good show, good presentation, and i found it to be very entertaining for free TV. On a side note, this is one ugly looking block of words I just made.

48 Hours, Elite’s lead-in, did a .8. Elite’s increase was not too much and was not enough for CBS to lead the night in that demo.

If Elite can draw a solid 18-49, they can do smaller overall audiences.

The 18-49 ave on the 19th was .8, on the 12th it was a .9. So not too much less than what Elite did, but with bigger overall audiences.

Elite is partially to blame because they did not work hard to build up last night’s show. It seems like they expected a weak night and accepted their fate. They should have done more, in the last two weeks, to build up the hype.

Had they done so, I think it would have done somewhat better.

Thanks for the interesting figures, in terms of overall viewership it clearly didn’t do so well, but the P18-49 demo figures seem to be at least above average for CBS in that timeslot. I don’t think it was a matter of Lawler failing to get over with the audience; there were a lot of factors, foremost the gigantic July 19th weekend of Affliction/UFC, that conspired to overshadow this event. Hopefully the network will realize its not an indication that EXC can’t draw, because in terms of fight quality, this show, and the June 14th Showtime card, were both great. They just need some time to establish identities for their premier fighters.
