jackyl not all subs are break and choke, a lot are actually pain dependent, not to mention most fighters dont pull submissions to break a limb, most could if they wanted, only takes a second to break an arm with an armbar if the intentions are there. so nothing rediculous about assuming pain killers can enhance your performance with the right amount and tolerance. your entitled to you opinion but keep it civil, drugs are bad mmkay and no1 mentioned diaz or marijuana (he has a legal prescription for it and he wont make that mistake again) , the comments were about pills to alleviate pain that are on a banned list that fighters know they shouldnt have in their body ahead of fight time. mma is growing more popular every day and new young fighters are joining in record #s. precidents have to be set for the future of our sport now b4 it gets out of control.

MMA organizations and ruling bodies need to squash this trend right now. If this sport ever expects to gain any type of mainstream acceptance they need to start coming down on anyone who tests positive for anything. Otherwise it turns into a circus show where people say "Oh that's that cage fighting stuff where people are all steroided up." I say start implement a two strike rule. First offense, 1 year, second offense lifetime banishment. No one wants to see everyone else's hard work flushed down the toilet by a few who can't play right. If you're too injured to compete, don't. You can say what you want about people needing to make money, and that's all well and good as it is their job, but not at the expense of everyone else. I have to clock in at 9AM every day and if my company looked the other way because I rolled in at 10:15 and still left at 5 it would be mutiny from my coworkers. Play by the rules or don't play.

Has anyone here taken a drug such as oxymorphone or any other narcotic pain killer? They make you very sluggish and groggy. Physical exertion is the last thing you are thinking about. Most of those drugs are not about killing the pain. They are about zonking you out so you don't feel the pain. I don't see any advantage in defending subs. If an armbar is locked properly, you have to tap or your arm is broken. It's not about the pain. Most guys tap as soon as their arm is extended. Likewise chokes affect the blood and air. Most guys tap out of panic. This is about as ridiculous as saying Nick Diaz had an unfair advantage for smoking a little weed.

you're right about that screwface. and as i was trying to say before, you can go on for ever. meaning that being loaded on pain killers helps your stand up and you won't gas as easy if you have at least a mild tolerrance. not as high profile as staroids but it's still cheating.

harder to submit an opponent if hes on painkillers, so yes it enhances performance. think of cb dolloways subconscious tap in the tuf finale. if he was on painkillers, it prolly never wouldve happened.

opiates, regardless of what they are will stay in a person's system for about 3 days (max 5 if you are a hard core addict or ex addict). and we're taking hardcore shit like heroin to relatively mild stuff in comparison like codeine to all the synthetics down. the only advantage is if a person is used to them (take the meaning of that where you will) they can go on forever. it won't slow you down and you won't feel pain; you just have to pay the piper.

It doesn't enhance performance. It blocks pain, which I guess you could say enhances performance but most fighters don't feel a lot during the fight unless it is a really hard shot becuase of the adrenaline. Most people will be slower on pain killers unless you counteract it with lots of caffeine or some other stimulant. Most likely a group of fighters were told that it would not show up on the tests because it is not as commonly used as percocet and vicodin. That is my best guess, someone didn't get caught in a regional show after being tested so a rumor spread that it didn't show up on the test. The other option is that there is a lot of guys getting hooked on pain killers because it is easy for them to get.

The fact that two fighters have tested positive for oxymorphone suggests it enhances performance in some fashion. Somebody out there must have some insights to share.
