    STEVE CANTWELL NEW CHAMP!!!!

    YEAAAAAAAA!!!!

Cantwell/Stann 1 was stopped wayyy early.. ever since that point i’ve been waiting for Cantwell to get his chance for redemption.. his game was soooo technical tonight..

the Bowles fight was AWESOME.. from the moment Damacio stuck his toung out, i couldn’t wait for this kid to hurt him.. great fight.. Bowles is a beast..

another KO for Varner.. the guys pretty much a world-class submissionist and he’s in there knockin’ folks out.. i love it..

now, i can’t wait for what i think will be the next addition to the FOTY candidates, Condit/Miura..

Steve Cantwell looked most impressive against Stann 2nite. He gave Stann a variety of looks on the feet and never allowed the champ to get comfortable. These two will hook up again and settle the trilogy. Marcus Hicks what can I say to you but…….Duck!! Its ok to get out of the way of flush knees, kicks, and elbows. Toughness is not defined by how many punches you can take 2 the dome!! Remember there is no substitute for a Fist to the Face.

  • Rich S. says:

ya, when Hicks was in the clinch, he didn’t even THINK about blocking..
his arms were literally WIDE OPEN, trying to catch a leg.. but, that leaves your face WIDE OPEN.. didn’t see the strategy there.. it’s not that hard to just block.. or just move forward towards the cage and neutralize the clinch..

  • Rich S. says:

ok, i didn’t catch what just made miura fall.. it didn’t even look like he got hit..
i was so scared the fight was gonna stop there.. i don’t want to see another 1st round Condit Mauling..

    COME ON MIURA!!!!!!!!
    TAKE IT HOME!!!!!

  • Rich S. says:

well, i wanted miura to win, but, by the way things are going right now.. that seems impossible..

  • Rich S. says:

i swear, condit’s invincible.. it kinda annoys me.. as soon as miura gets the upside, he just lays down on the mat and gives condit side control.. i don’t understand this.. he didn’t get knocked down or taken down.. he just.. falls.. and condit just gets right no top of him..

  • Rich S. says:

i don’t see where miura’s summoning these reversals from.. i also don’t see why i keep commenting on what’s basically a dead thread..

    omg.. horrible stoppage..

  • Warcry says:

Condit is proved he is overrated . Miura was slinging him all over the place. Judo throw after Judo throw. It was a clinic. Its easy to be dominate when you’re taking on tomato cans. So much for that Ufc talk. He has a long way to go to even make mention of talk of being one of the top welterweights. What a Crappy stoppage!!! Rosenthal should be ashamed!!

Condit won but Miura was absolutely a samurai-warrior.

  • Rich S. says:

i like how Rosenthal didn’t stop it a few of the other times where both of the guys were on the verge of conciousness… yet, he chose that time to stop it?? that’s absolutely ridiculous.. i know Condit was on his way to a UD victory, but Miura could’ve definitely had a chance to stop it in the 5th..

man does that stoppage make me mad!!!!

see, i have different reasons for not liking fighters.. sometimes, i don’t like the way they fight, other times, i don’t like how they talk trash.. but in this case, i’m starting not to like Condit, because you don’t even need to watch his fights.. you KNOW he’s going to win..

call me crazy.. but, Condit’s starting to annoy me.. bring him to the UFC, if he wins he wins, if he loses he loses..

i was right when i said Miura would pose WAYYYYY more problems though, i just wish he could’ve sealed the deal..

That main event was amazing. Not many folks can hang with Condit, but Miura kept trying.

Miura has won a new fan tonight. I can’t wait to see him again.

That Miura was a warrior. I was pissed that he lost! I was hoping he could hold out for another 15 seconds.

Grispi won! It sucks that it was a horrible stoppage. Herb Dean pulls the trigger too quickly. I like Rosenthal.

This was a crazy awesome card. WEC FOR LIFE!!!!!!

    Was the undercard televised?

  • Sam Caplan says:

Horrible stoppage? I think he’s still flat on the mat. C’mon now. Maybe the knee didn’t get full impact, but Miura wasn’t defending himself and then after the fight was stopped Miura didn’t made any case for an early stoppage by not being able to get up. Condit outlasted him.

  • Patrick says:

Condit vs. Miura…. definitely in the top 10 fights of the year for sure.

  • Adam Morgan says:

    War,

Is that why Condit smashed Alessio and Diego Sanchez struggled against him? Is that why he made Brock Larson look like a clown? Because he’s overrated? If anything, the guy is underrated. And Miura is not a joke either. His throws were effortless. If you don’t think that Condit could hang with the upper echelon welterweights in the UFC, then I think you’re sadly mistaken. I don’t think he could beat GSP but he would give Jon Fitch a hell of a fight.

Wow, the Condit/Miura fight was good! I thought Miura was finished, then I thought he had it in the bag, then back to Condit almost ending it, and so on….I can’t wait to see Miura fight again.

Enjoyed all the fights. Nice job WEC.

Does anyone know exact time Marcus Hicks fight started at, I had large wager that was placed late.

  • Rich S. says:

ya, sam, but he’s only on the ground/not complaining because he lost his gas in the 2nd, and it ended in the 4th.. i’m sure HE’s not mad about the stoppage.. but there was plenty of better times to stop it during that fight, and he didn’t.. so to stop it there was stupid to me.. plus, a good look at the clock would’ve inclined josh to let it go a little longer..

i know Condit’s good.. but, frankly, i wanted him to lose.. but, that’s not why i thought it was a bogus stoppage.. stopping it when Miura was mounted/side mounted taked repeated elbows and strikes to the face, that’s a justified stoppage, but when Miura’s holding on to Carlos’ leg trying to wait out the round?? that’s garbage..

i think a rematch is only right, seeing as how there’s only one other WW that can challenge Carlos anyway..
give Miura one fight.. give Larson the Condit fight..
when Condit wins, give Miura the rematch..

    that’s how i see it..

i still don’t understand why every time Miura started to get the upperhand on the feet, he just fell to the ground and LET Condit mount him.. it’s like this crap is fixed or something..

    idk..

    GREAT NIGHT OF FIGHTS..

Great fights. Miura gave Condit the toughest fight of his career. I think Condit could compete in UFC, but he’d face fighters of Miura’s caliber more frequently. One of the best fights this year, imo.

I guess we didn’t watch the same fight because I never saw Miura fall to the ground and let Condit mount him.

I think the stoppage was ok. Both fighters were exhausted. They fought hard. I don’t see how you thought it was “fixed or something..” nor do I understand how you can say that, then follow it with a shout of “GREAT NIGHT OF FIGHTS”.

Every fight but the Grispi fight was top notch. If that fight wouldn’t have had that shitty stoppage that fight would have been a war as well. Both those fighters are very atypical style of fighters, it would have been fun to watch. Still this card (at least the televised portion) was unbelievable.

I don’t know what the WEC feeds these guys but their cards end up being ridiculously awesome. I know they are owned by Zuffa but the WEC is giving the UFC a run for it’s money. The production value (in HD) was great. The sound is great, the commentary is so money (not annoying), it’s free, the fights time after time are great (legendary, Faber/Pulver, Condit/Muira, Torres/Maeda (my favorite this year))!

Where can we view the undercard?

  • Warcry says:

Could Condit compete( not on purpose) in the Ufc. Sure he could. My point is he would only be mid level at best in the Welterweight division. I break it down for you.
    1 Gsp would destroy him
    2 Fitch would dominate him
    3 Koscheck would own him
4 Alves would bang him out.
    5 Hughes would finish him
6 Had real problems with those Judo throws so Parisyan would punish him
7 Chris Lylte would defeat him.

    Dude there you have it

I think condit would fit better in the 185 lb division, he is too skinny for 170 because he is 6 foot 2.

Condit took this guy a little light. great fight though. Condit needs to stick in the WEC for a while.

  • Rich S. says:

Jolly, i didn’t really think it was fixed.. i will never think an MMA bout was fixed.. that was just a bad expression of my emotions..

but, clearly, in the replays after the fight ended, you see a part where Miura’s throwing punches and just falls, without getting punched or tripped or anything, and Condit just drops on him, and squirms his way easily into mount..

and aside from that one, it happened two other times i believe..
