Herring doesn't have great take down defence, so i think Brock is going to beat on him till Heath tries to jump out the cage and leg it out-the-back between rounds. But Heath's escapes are pretty good from his back. I think the only way Heath is gonna win this is by a knee-bar or a foot lock. If he could get to his knees with Brock on top and roll into it, this could be his only chance. Lesnar is the strongest man in UFC and a world class wrestler. I am a huge Mir fan but so say he got lucky is a huge understatement! The stand up from 2 punches to back of head with no warning is what saved him from being hammerfisted thru the Octagon!!! I will be astonished if this fight goes past 2 minutes w Lesnar winning ground and pound. BTW seeing as though Lesnar is a huge worker, after being submitted in 2nd fight u had better believe he has focused on defending the submission game! Wed, 06 Aug 2008 20:03:16 +0000 http://fiveouncesofpain.com/?p=4926#comment-43186 I know Heath Herring has been in wars.. and i know Herring has fought the best fighters in the world.. that’s definitely true.. but SINCE he became a member of the UFC, his performances have been.. ummm.. not up to par, if you will.. his first fight [in the UFC] = a slow fight in which he didn’t even try to defend takedowns, and he: “didn’t know this was gonna turn into a wrestling match” second fight: a slow decision win over an opponent [Imes] he greatly outmatched.. third fight: losing, losing, losing, head kick, ohhhhhhh!! , losing, losing, losing, lost.. fourth fight: his fight with Kongo was actually his best in the UFC yet.. but, i wasn’t impressed.. first of all, Kongo seemed off to me.. i mean, in the one place where he should dominate [the feet], he wasn’t working his leg/mid/high kicks, and he wasn’t even defending the takedowns.. and on the ground, Herring wouldn’t punch him in the face.. knees to the body aren’t a bad idea, but you have to punch him in the face every now and then.. THEREFORE, i think Lesnar’s going to be 2-1 after this fight.. my only worry is Lesnar’s gas tank, and i’m sure he can hold his own in cardio after a career in which you “perform” 2-3 nights a week for 15-30 min. at a time.. Lesnar will be the attacker on the feet.. he won’t stop moving when it hits the ground [i mean, did you see that spin-around in the Mir fight?? it was beastly!!] and i just think that Herring will break/lose motivation after being outworked in those positions.. i just don't see how Herring's pretty much an accomplished wrestler, yet he gets pissed when it goes to the ground [you'd know what i'm talking about if you've seen his post-fight interview for the O'Brian fight].. and i'm sure that's PRECISELY where it's going in this fight.. i'm not finding a way Herring can win here.. all i know, is that Brock wasn't hit in the face in either of his last two fights.. so, he might have a weak chin, and if anyone can test it, it's Heath.. i'm hoping Brock's spending countless hours in the Gym getting pounded, to get used to headkicks and haymakers.. he's only been leg-kicked twice in his 2 fight career and both times he grabbed the kicks and took his opponent down.. so, i'm not worried about the leg kicks.. all in all, i'm thinkin' Herring's gonna have to pull a submission out of his ass, or Knock Lesnar Out before Lesnar pummels him.. i'm not liking Herring's chances..
