Jim: good point. I totally agree. Huerta's head is absolutely huge lately and I think this loss to Florian will be the best thing to happen to him. He's a sloppy fighter who really needs some focus. I'm betting that's how Dana White sees it, too. Normally, I'd expect Dana to be absolutely boiling over the shit Huerta's been saying considering that the UFC has been handing him easy fights and grooming him on a level that they are not usually known for (basically, they created the beast that he's become). I'm thinking it's because Dana knows that Huerta's just about to be given a reality check. But God help us all if Huerta wins... his head will get so big that it might just tip the earth off it's axis.

I like Spencer Fisher a lot and you've got to remember that one of those recent losses was a bullshit 'lay & pray' defeat to Frankie Edgar. Fisher is easily one of the best technical strikers in the LW division and if he can avoid a big power shot from Melvin he'll take him no problem.

If he wins convincingly, get on the mic afterwards and start calling out the whole division!!!! Spencer's not getting any younger and if he ever wants to get a shot at the top of the division he better start making some noise.

I really enjoy The DUEL. It's a great piece and always delivers an interesting read.

I definitely agree with Huerta being in above his head against Florian. I have a theory of MMA that in order for a fighter to truly reach the highest level, he has to experience a frustrating loss that changes his outlook and further motivates him to excel. Florian has had that loss, against Sherk. He's a different fighter now than he was before that fight, you can see a difference in the way he talks about fighting and handles himself. St. Pierre had that loss against Serra; Herring had that loss against Noguiera; BJ had that loss against Matt Hughes. Huerta hasn't lost like that yet -- but I think that this fight is going to potentially be that loss for him. I think that Florian is going to frustrate him and dominate him in a way he's never experienced before. Hopefully Huerta will rededicate rather than break mentally. I think he'll be fine, though.

here's what i say:

GSP will NOT finish Fitch, but will win..
Roger Huerta WILL lose to Florian, it doesn't matter how.. the ONLY way Huerta can possibly win this fight is by some crazy cut or something.. Florian won't get KO'd and if Roger thinks he's submitting that guy he's crazy..
I don't know about Maia finished Mac in the first round.. Mac is a really talented fighter and i wouldn't be suprised to see this one go to a decision..
Brock will NOT go 0-2 against Herring.. i just can't find a way Herring wins this.. headkick, looping hook, cut.. these are the only ways i see possible.. i'm sure Lesnar will get this to the ground, and do whatever the "f" he wants to.. Lesnar's top game is wayyyyy to aggressive for Herring's bottom game.. i'll take Lesnar via TKO, UD, maybe even sub.. but i don't see Herring winning this one..
Barnett WILL beat AA.. AA's one of my favorite fighters, but the bottom line is, there's not too many people that can beat Josh Barnett right now.. AA has great striking, and a nice Sambo background, and he sure loves those leg kicks, but everything AA's good at on the ground, Barnett's 1000 times better.. and i'm sure that's where this fight will be within the first 30 seconds.. the ground.. i'd love to see AA sprawl and keep it standing and get a KO.. but, i just see JB getting it to the ground, and eeking out a decision..
Now, i think that Pat Millitech is "STUPID" for saying guillard is bad for Fisher.. i mean, we all know Fisher is a very accomplished fighter trying to make his way to the top.. but, the bottom line is.. Fisher's only 1-0 since his last loss, and 2-2 in his last 4 fights.. hmmm, imagine that, Guillard's 2-2 for his last 4 fights also.. if you ask me, this match is mathematically PERFECT.. it'll put on a great show for the fans, personally, i think it'll get thrown into the FOTY list, it'll be a great test for both fighters, a win will put either of them where they want to be.. idk.. i just don't see what's wrong with this match-up.. If Fisher was 6-0 for his last 6 fights or something, i'd agree, but right now, there's nothing wrong with this bout..

Maybe its just me...but I see Lesnar shooting and hitting the double leg over and over again in this fight. If he was smart, he would elevate it to a slam, gnp for a bit, and then let him up. The issue would be Herrings knee game, which is good but was not utilized against O'Brien. Everyone writes Lesnar off as a pro wrassler, but he was a beast of a wrestler in college, technically sound & powerful.

#4 - I have to go with Lesnar here. I knew Mir would find an opportunity to submit him (I won some decent $$ on it, in fact), but I was shocked by just how much Brock overwhelmed the former champ up until that point. It doesn't matter that Lesnar lacks technique or experience when he has so much power and such good wrestling. Barring a lucky strike from Herring, this fight's going to the ground right away and it'll stay there. Herring doesn't have Mir's level of BJJ and he's constantly trying to get fights back on their feet instead of going for a ground win. I think Lesnar's raw power will just be too much in this particular fight.
