you know, i was going through my fantasy card making last minute adjustments.. and i saw Gusmao/Jones..

and for a second, i thought, who the hell are these guys?

I do that alot on when making picks for the undercard..
so i looked them both up..
and now i'm totally stoked for that fight [even though i won't be able to see it most likely]
you have Gusmao, who trains with Renzo i believe.. so, he has great skills in grappling and submissions.. and then you have Jon Jones, who is wrestling based.

yet, both of these guys' records are filled with KO's..
i love that in a fighter..
that's why i love the guys like: David Terrell, A Silva, Nick Diaz, etc..
when you're an accomplished grappler but you knock guys out, that's just awesome..

so, this fight will probably be nothing less than amazing.. i don't expect it to go to a decision, but if it does, i'm sure Gusmao will take it..

Sam, I have to respecfully disagree with some of your comments about the recent Huerta situation.

You say that fighters aren't compensated just for the fight, but also for the training and sacrifices. I would argue that as the compensation grows for a fighter, they are not compensated for either of these things. Instead, their compensation increases in proportion to their ability to put asses in seats and sell PPV's. Lots of fighters sacrifice, and spend countless hours sweating and bleeding in the gym, but they aren't worth much if they can't sell tickets.

Now, Huerta certainly has helped to sell tickets. But I don't agree he should ask for as much as he wants. He may have the right to, but it doesn't mean it is smart. It also doesn't mean his demands aren't insulting to the employer when he is ungracious or too greedy.

I also think the underlying issue that annoyed Dana White is that Huerta went public, insulting the UFC, Dana White, and their business practices to the media. I am all for fighters getting their just dues, but Huerta was very disrespecful in his approach, and the reproach by Dana White was more than warranted.

Huerta is young and cocky, and I think he may need to learn some professionalism (not that Dana White is an expert in this area).

GSP will put the beat-down on Fitch ... plain and simple ... Fitch says, of himself, "he's slow, never been the strongest guy, just works hard" ... i can appreciate a hard work ethic, BUT, GSP is a man on a mission. GSP has done this once already, been the champ and lost, like he says "he won't make th esame mistake twice" ... i like Fitch, i like GSP ... GSP will win this fight ... stoppage, 4th round, G-n-P, similar to the 2nd Serrra fight.

LESNAR IS GONNA SMOOTHER HERRING !!!! VICIOUS G-N-P .... now, it is possible that Herring "catches him" with a strike as he charges in. Much like the Kongo fight, Herring will only get a split second to strike, each time they are seperated(if at all) before Lesnar "dumps him on his head - and he don't know where he's at - i'm gonna mount him, and pound his head into the canvas" (sorry guys, loved that comment from the Mir lead-in) ... yes i'm a Lesnar "mark" ... he is right, we(or at least I) am starving for a TRUE-HW in the UFC ... i hope in a couple years, once his SUB's and DEFENSE are improved, "He will be THAT GUY" ... best of luck to Brock!

KenFlo vs Huerta ... wow ... where will this fight take place ... WOW CAPLAN, i just read your prediction ... i'm pretty certain Huerta "pace" will get him out of the first round, actually, this MAY be a tough fight for Kenny as Huerta can take a punch and Kenny (correct me if i'm wrong) has never really displayed KO power.
KenFlo is without a doubt one fight that i feel epitomizes an MMA fighter, and he's one of my FAV's ... his skills are limitless
Once KenFlo slows him down, i've got KenFlo with a 2nd or 3rd round SUB (possilby g-n-p stoppage if Huerta can't shake him off the mount)

am i reading this right ??? Manny Gamburyan vs. Rob Emerson relevised on PPV ??? I am NOT a fan of Manny as i feel his cheapshot-sidekick was LOWDOWNDIRTY ... however, he will submit Rob early in the first round.

i don't know enough about 1 or both of the fighters in the remaining bouts so i will not comment

Go Brock and KenFlo ...

LiuLang, Huerta can do PR from the comfort of his own home if he wants. He takes time away from his training and goes on the road at the UFC's request to promote the UFC. Chances are he'd still have most of his sponsors by just trying to remain visible on his own.

I have to agree that some of the Huerta criticism is over the top, but Sam, a lot of it is warranted. Why do you feel it's such a big deal that he only gets a $50 per diem? To me, a per diem is generally for food. We have no idea if he has to pay for his own flights, hotel, etc and what kind of agreement they have for PR appearances.

Shouldn't he be happy that he's being given the opportunity to do PR and increase his status in the eyes of fans everywhere as a growing star? Watching a video on BE this morning that had an interview with a marketing guy, he spoke about how much a fighter can get for wearing a single shirt to the ring. He was talking from 5k or 10k all the way to 50k and for the elite possibly 100k. Huerta doing this kind of PR can only benefit him, too bad he's not making thousands doing it. That will come if he takes the opportunity that a lot of fighters aren't getting to develop his star status.

For the prediction about the Lesnar fight, I don't know. Sometimes when Heath gets pressured, he just gives up almost. I think Lesnar is going to be all over him, constantly applying pressure and either win out a top control decision or tko him late.
