Report: “Rampage” Jackson’s arraignment postponed

Sherdog is reporting that Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s arraignment, which was scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed pending further investigation into his arrest. Jackson was arrested on July 15 for suspicion of felony evasion, reckless driving, and hit and run charges. The District Attorney’s Office of Orange County gave these comments regarding the postponement:

“The district attorney’s office is responsible for filing charges and that case is still under investigation based on some new evidence that has been discovered,” said Farrah Emami, spokesperson for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

“There were different incidents that occurred in different jurisdictions. There was Highway Patrol, there was Costa Mesa, there was Newport Beach. We’re looking at all of this as one potential case,” said Emami. “The recommendations of the police are taken into consideration, but it could be more charges or less charges, depending on what the evidence reports.”

By no means am I a lawyer and by no means do I know what this postponement means for Jackson. But I do know that the longer this thing goes on, the worse it is for Jackson. The quicker that this thing can get buried and put behind Jackson, the better it is for him personally and professionally.

Seriously… the sooner Rampage can get this behind him the better regardless of the outcome.

As an aside, there’s a Contender Muay Thai marathon on Versus right now. I missed it the first time around but I must say, it is AWESOME.

Hey guys, just for personal info, I checked with a lawyer pal of mine. Apparently in the state of California they do not consider a fetus alive, so he cannot be charged for manslaughter or murder if it turns out that the woman miscarried because of his actions. I was curious what kind of time he was looking at if he was the cause, turns out that rampage may get lucky here. Although he can still be charged with murder in a civil suit and lose a lot of money.

My initial instinct is this is bad. It sounds like they are looking into turning the hit and run into a felony hit and run if they can tie his actions to the fetus dying. However, it’s just a guessing game. The fact that they said it could be less charges is interesting too.

Sergio, you are absolutely correct in the fact that “The Contender Muay Thai ” is awesome. It’s only 3 episodes deep and they’re 2 for 3 on pretty damn good bouts. Problem is the editing… they edit so much fight footage instead of giving it to us straight.

Watched the new episode of the Contender last night. Rafik was a jerk, but I’m not so sure about the outcome on that one. Not much discussion about how fights are scored, so hard to say for sure.

They’re looking for jail time Sam. It’s going to be hard to “put it behind him” if he’s sitting out time in prison. Let’s hope he has excellent defense counsel.
