CBS would be giving up a lot, the UFC won’t give up any production rights, they are already doing well on Spike. From what I hear, they get rights to 500,000 stocks of EliteXC for every show.

Cathedron: Would UFC really benefit from throwing money at the owners of EliteXC (Pro Elite or W/E they’re called)?
I don’t really see what EXC has that UFC desperately needs. Sure there are some names they could pick up and make into stars but it’s not like they have anything huge that the UFC might need.

Shocking, why am I not surprised at all. EliteXC’s awful freakshow is not cutting it.CBS realizes this and is now going for UFC, for the real deal, and real ratings. If this goes through, lights out EliteXC, I give you about six months at the most. UFC on CBS? Then it will only be UFC and nobody else. Nuff said.

Also….If CBS shuts out their relationship with Elitexc, I give ELite 6 months unitl they are done.

And if/when this happens I would put money on it that Kimbo does not pursue a career in mma. Because after this last donkey match he has to fight real fighters of a competitive age. I put money that Kimbo goes on to WWE or TNA. Kimbo is spectacle, sure, but a mma fighter, not really. When he is forced to actually fight he will choose scripted wrestling over real fights

its amazing that cbs choose to show this free fight when it was going up against cotto v. margartio…. that probally did like 400k plus buys and while i know thats boxing and not mma.. its a combat sport and many of my friends that casually watch combat sports choose to watch the boxing fight….

why didnt they have this show weeks later when nothing was on is beside me…

That would kick so much ass in so many different ways!!! Even CBS realizes what a rickety ship EliteXC is steering. I hope they realize that Kimbo on the main card for every event possible against the oldest, most out of shape, recognizable names in mma is not the image of mma, nor the ratings they could get with the UFC.

I really hope this is true. I am just so curious to see just how many viewers the UFC could get on FREE tv!! If circus freakshow can get 6 million….I would bet that if the UFC stacked the first card on CBS they could draw double that, easily

CBS really shouldn’t be shocked. They had millions of eyeballs on the first show. They would still have just as many and more had the first show not been a complete Gary Shaw Productions Trainwreck ™. The following show had great fights and a slicker production, but first impressions count for everything.

WOW! is all i can say if this is pans out and the rumors of randy coming back are true. Kiss everybody else goody bye because there would be no touching the ufc for a long time
