Thank you, thank you, thank you. To Brock for not acting a drama queen thug. Sure, snap Couture like a dry twig inside the octagon, but I like the new non-WWE Brock outside it.

Classy will serve you better, I assure you Mr. Lesnar. Makes the fans feel like you respect them, and aren't condescending to them with Jerry Springer antics. In my opinion, anyway... ;)

warcry on September 4th, 2008 1:07 am

I’ve learned never to underestimate Randy Couture. Oddly enough I think Brock should keep this fight standing. Reason being is if it goes to the ground Couture has a distinct grappling advantage. Brock may cancel this with his supreme wrestling pedigree. That’s why the matchup is epic!

Your correct that Brock will cancel Randy's groundwork with his wrestling, which is going to be very enhanced any time he is on top thanks to his 70 lb weight advantage (all muscle). Randy actually doesn't have a great bottom game, he has never submitted someone from the bottom.

Randy is a greco roman wrestler, so most of his truly elite skills are in the greco clinch, which he has adapted for dirty boxing very successfully. If he wins, it will be by clinching, staying close, and working the dirty boxing for short punches, elbows, and the occasional distracting knee.

The last question is that we have never seen a beat up Brock, or a Brock that has had to go more than fifteen minutes. The question is will he be as dominant if Randy can stuff his shots, ring his bell a few times, and take him into the fifth round? I don't see Randy finishing Brock but I think he could win a decision thanks to the above factors.

randy couture is going to stop the hype of brock lesnar. i agree brock is fascinating to talk about, look at, and watch fight but bottom line he is not champion material. frank mir (ex HW champion) ate a whole bunch of shots from brock stayed focus and pulled off a beautiful sub. in the first round. *now everyone reading this says well that was brocks first fight. and thats true but in his 2nd fight against a mediocore fighter being heath herring who has a lot of experience brock proved he could be the worlds most famous bouncer. he hit him with a great shot tackled him and held him down for 15 minutes with weak drills and satellites... not impressed... i think brock is an excellent person to bring mma even more commercial than it has already has grown to be. bottom line is brock has a lot of hype, media coverage, promotion and in this ring of elite HW fighters in the UFC he will not stand a chance at this point. randy will beat brock nog will beat mir than that brings back a fight between lesnar and mir....

i am very excited to see this fight on the 15th and i am even more excited to see the best fighter in the world back in the octogon... lets get it on!

Sorry text got screwed up. Lets try again:

As much as I see Brock winning this, I thought Tim Sylvia was too big, too strong for Randy. I’ve learned never to bet against him!

As for the Interm title, looks like they winner of Nog vs Mir fights the winner of Randy vs Brock for a 4 man unification tournament.

You have to hand it to Dana...the HW division has been anemic for some time and completely dead since Randy split. He now has made the next year a self-generating hype machine with 3 premire title fights!

Sorry for the partial repeat

I'll give Brock credit for not reaching over and bitch slapping the interviewer when he brought Fedor up. When I heard that, I assumed it'd only be a couple seconds before Lesnar flipped the table over and choke slammed the guy.

I still care about the Mir/Nog fight, because the winner is going to fight the Lesnar/Randy winner. I'm not that concerned about Werdum getting his shot, it just means that he'll have one more fight in between now and his title shot.

I imagine that Forrest will be defending his belt on the New Years show, probably against Chuck, or Rampage if Chuck loses to Evans. Either way, the News Years show will be awsome by the time it is done being put together I have no doubt about that.

Did you notice the size difference between the two?... notice how high Randy's chair was jacked up so he'd appear the same height as Brock. Randy's a legend for sure, but with all that ring rust and at the twilight of his career he's not going to have the tools to handle Lesnar.

I've learned never to underestimate Randy Couture. Oddly enough I think Brock should keep this fight standing. Reason being is if it goes to the ground Couture has a distinct grappling advantage. Brock may cancel this with his supreme wrestling pedigree. That's why the matchup is epic!

I don't agree with the matchup as Lesnar is far from deserving a title shot, let alone a match against Couture.

Does anyone remember Frank Mir? Remember the "Interim Champion" Nog? Remember the upcoming Ultimate Fighter season? I would love to hear what these guys think of the fight!

Despite agreeing with the matchup or not, we will all gladly watch Randy return to the Octagon. Never count out The Natural! Never!

The UFC HW division is just so damn loopy. The title holder returns from a completely pointless layoff that screwed up the whole division to fight a total newb and render the upcoming season of TUF completely irrelevant. Who is going to give a shit about Mir/Nog now? And Werdum won't get his shot at the title for at least nine months now. And yet, it's about the only matchup that really makes sense for Couture right now. Kinda sad to say, but beating the two and one Lesnar would do more for his career than beating Fedor. Hell, it'll do more for him than everything he's accomplished so far. I believed Lesnar would be champ some day, but I sure as hell didn't believe he deserved a shot this soon. It just seems wrong. But dammit, I can't wait to see what happens.

Randy is the man. Fuck the haters. He felt like he couldn't get the fights he wanted with the UFC, and that there problems in the way he was treated. He took his leave of absence and realized that the UFC was strangling his extra-UFC MMA career and that he would never be a movie star, so he came to a compromise with the UFC. Everybody wins. Anyone who feels bad for Dana over the contract dispute needs to check their head, the guy is rolling with money and all he does is manipulate the careers of others while attempting to monopolize the MMA market. Give the fighters some fucking respect. Dana did a lot for MMA- the fighters did more.

I love Couture, but I wouldn't want to be him on Nov. 15th. However, with that being said, I would take the payday he'll receive.
