UFC veteran Joe Doerksen announces next fight for Nov. 1 at Sengoku 6

Ex-UFC and WEC veteran middleweight Joe Doerksen announced via a MySpace bulletin earlier today that he has signed on to fight Izuru Takeuchi on Nov. 1 at Sengoku 6 in a Middleweight Grand Prix reserve match.

“I have been hard at work for the last few weeks, as I knew there was a possibility of fighting on this card,” Doerksen wrote in his bulletin. “Now that it has been confirmed, I am working even harder to make sure that I put on a great performance.”

Doerksen, 40-12, last competed in August for the “Vipers MMA” promotion, where he recorded a split decision victory over John Meyer. The victory broke a three fight losing streak, with defeats to Jason MacDonald at UFC 83, Ed Herman at UFC 78, and Paulo Filho at WEC 29.

Sengoku 6 will feature the semi-finals of the promotion’s Middleweight Grand Prix, with Kazuhiro Nakamura vs. Yuki Sasaki and Jorge Santiago vs. Siyar Bahadurzada.

The promotion’s semi-finals for its Lightweight Grand Prix will also be held, with Satoru Kitaoka taking on Eiji Mitsuoka and Kazunori Yokota squaring off against Mizuto Hirota.

The winners of the semi-finals bouts will meet each other later in the evening to crown Sengoku’s first-ever lightweight and middleweight champions.

Other bouts include Strikeforce and BodogFIGHT veteran Jorge Masvidal taking on Bang Seung Hwan in a Lightweight Grand Prix reserve bout along with Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal and Josh Barnett headlining the show in separate heavyweight bouts.
