What exactly would be the grounds for getting this overturned? Has a fighter ever won an appeal? Does anyone know what his defense was? Just some follow up questions to the articles.

Damn ShhxIMxHiding get off the roids, I did not mean to piss you off. I am fully aware of what acromegaly is. What you failed to mention is that the disease causes an excess of growth hormone in the body. Now if he really had this disease why in the hell is he taking Novadex XT. Novadex XT is a “testosterone booster” . Taking this supplement would be just a dangerous as taking Boldenone or any other roid for that matter. Gaspari’s website states that this supplement may cause a false postive. If he knew this a took it anyway, he is just plain stupid. The guy is a hulk, he does not need any roids or supplements to be effective. What he does need is better representation. If he is innocent then he should have gotten off, because the facts would have been on his side.
Let’s keep MMA clean, Pro Bodybuilding is a joke because of the rampant roid use. If they do not uphold the suspensions of the cheaters, then MMA will be like pro Bodybuilding or even worse – Pro Wrestling in a few years.

egad81 get off your high horse our entire society is hook on prescription drugs but people think that’s acceptable because their legalized drug dealer or should i say family doctor says it’s OK.Then those same people can bash illegal drug users and feel good about themselves without owning up to their own habit.This whole obsession today’s society has with steroids is really disturbing.People like to use it as an excuse to say that’s the only reason someone is a winner because they took a steroid or used human growth hormone as if that person does not train, workout, spar,or follow a clean diet.There is no proof that taking a drug makes you a champion look at how many substandard baseball players have been suspended by MLB half of them no one has ever heard of until they were caught using these”Performance Enhancing Drugs”.It’s all a big crock of SHIT!

If you have to cheat to win then you prolly shouldnt be allowed to play…..$2500 seems like a small fine. I think he should lost his entire purse for that fight.
I also think that if you Test positive once that you should be tested every fight for the rest of your career.

TO CMT:

Silva is big for his size because he has a chronic disease, acromegaly(look it up), which causes enlargement of the extremities and face due to an overactive pituitary gland. This disease also makes it extremely dangerous to take steriods(like Boldenone), which IMO would make it highly doubtful that he would take something deadly to him even if it did enhance his preformance.

Also relating to this case and unmentioned by the writer of this article(not sure why) is that the 100% legal over-the-counter nutritional supplement Novodex has been documented to cause false positives for Boldenone.

What do you mean has he lost anything he’s suspended from competing for a year.This was also for a test at the CBS show July 26 which was not the Heat event that show just happened earlier this month.

Not really a surprise to see they upheld it but it is refreshing to see that they didn’t reduce the suspension to 6 months. I’ve never quite understood the rational for doing that.
