I think you’re off your rocker if you think Griffin won.
Sherk DEFINITELY won the first round. you CAN’T argue with that.
and although Griffin started to show more aggression towards the end of the 2nd, it was AFTER an onslaught on Sherks behalf.. Sherks was landing punch after punch, and then that brutal combo that went unanswered..

Thus, Sherk won r1 and r2 easy..

I’m glad Sherk got the win.. in my book, Tyson’s the king of controversial decision wins.. I thought Clay Guida beat Griffin.. I thought Tavares did more work, and deserved the win over Griffin, and i thought that all those takedowns from Tibau should’ve gotten him the win over Griffin..

I have to say Sherk won that fight. And this is coming from a guy who bet $$ on Griffin. It was very close but Sherk showed more control, and did get the only real takedowns which traditionally seem to be counted for points by NSAC judges even if they don’t do any real damage. Griffin put up a great fight and showed a lot of heart but that first round was brutally in Sherk’s favor and Griffin couldn’t quite make up for it in the later rounds.

If you think Tyson Griffin won that fight I am glad you’re not a judge.Sherk is the one who controlled the fight he had Tyson on his heels the whole fight worried Sherk was going to shoot in and take him down Sherk was also landing his left hook at will.

rich not a lot of people agree that sherk won that fight, i gave sherk his props he fought well, but griffin was robbed in my book, and if you read up ull see what i said. sherk did impress me, im not bashing him but tyson controlled that fight from start to finish.

calling Spider disrespectful in this fight would be like calling Machida disrespectful, and i’m sure you would NEVER do that..

all A.Silva did was counter..
he KNEW that Cote has heavy hands..
so he didn’t want to get TOO involved with those heavy hands [much like Bisping in the Leben fight, although different words were used to describe that one]

it’s funny how in three fights, three men can have the same gameplan and one’s recognized as the best LHW striker in the world [Machida], one’s recognized as boring or afraid [Bisping] and one’s recognized as disrespectful [Silva].

there’s no doubt that A.Silva is one of the most respectful athletes in the biz, if not THE MOST..
so to call him disrespectful for deciding to counter a heavy handed striker is ludicrous in my book..
and as far as i’m concerned, he went full force..
that kick, and that knee in the 1st, would’ve knocked out anyone else..
same for that straight left in the 2nd..

I’ve never been a fan of Cote, but i have to commend his chin..

matt ur dumb ass if u think silva was losing.. are u kidding silva was playing cite that whole match cause like everyone else knew cote can fight but he is not a factor to silva… lucky my ass thats why u will never be a critic nor a fighter u dont know wat ur talking about nor how to call a fight…. cote knew wat was gonna happen just like everyone one else that steps in front of silva….im not by far dis-crediting any of those fighters thay put in front off silva but thay know they need to bring there A game and cote didnt at all he felt like he need to swing for the fence.. he couldnt even phase silva not once. So move on an prepare for the next victim in silvas way to bring there A game or get theres ass handed to them simple as that. he is THE BEST POUND FOR POUND FIGHTER IN THE WORLD SO GET USE TO IT !!!!!

silva was getting beat and he got lucky because cote was gonna decision him no doubt cote had him frustrated and he was able to get in his head he didnt fall for any of the shadyness from silva who if you dont beleve is a disrespectfull ass just go back and watch this whole fight but he was counterpunching and was unfazed by the shitty ass leg kicks being thrown out there by silva

Yeah, im kinda disgusted with silva’s bows of respect and honor before and after the fight, yet during it he shows none…we’ve seen him hot dogging it in the past but this was his worst yet…as mentioned earlier, he’s just setting himself up to lose the title and i hope he does, no one likes a hypocrite

hi, u know jollyDV i felt just like you. At first it didnt look at all if silva was “show-boating” or disrespecting cote in this fight. But watching it again i guess silva was acting out just alittle to much against cote. Well, enough to make it obvious to silva followers. I don’t think cote even took silvas acts as disrespectful or do i think it had any bearing of the fight plan cote had. it wasnt smart of silva to play cote the way he did but the out come of the fight would have been all silva anyways. Not a good fight but still a fight that i have no regrets of paying $44 to watch. I have been in the arts for over 26yrs and following silva before he joined the ufc, i truely do not believe silva disrespects cote or any other fighters in or out of the ring. Silva is young and a very classy fighter and lets not forget two divs world champion. THAT IS WHAT SHOULD BE RESPECTED. I SEND A PRAYER FOR COTE TO HAVE HIS KNEE HEAL FAST AND BE EVEN STRONGER AS HE RETURNS TO THE LIGHTS. THANKS

it was painfully obvious that Silva was goofing on Cote, and rightfully so he shouldnt have gotten the fight in the first place. But Silva was straight up disrespectful of Cote and could have ended in round 1, ask James Irvin.

I have been training in martial arts for over thirty years and what I saw tonight was a steaming pile of bullshit. Anderson Silva who I have had complete respect for since he bursted into the scene with his skillfull defeat of Chris Leben, clowned around and goofed on Cote for the first two rounds, completely out of character for Silva and then in round three Cote blows his own knee out which could happen to anybody. I thought it was fucked up that Silva although he coud have ended this fight at anytime ,continued to goof around walking and picking his shots at random, let Cote get to round three and ultimatley injure himself. Silva has allways displayed class and respect for his opponents however in this case he was show-boating and trying to put on a display of his superior skills. That is not what a worldclass athlete should do, he should have went out and fought to win from the beginning,not dance and walk to humilliate his opponate, Silva may be the pound for pound best fighter in MMA but he has lost a fan here. He may as well have been acting like the ego-centric Matt Hughes, and we see where that got him….

i think silva was trying to give his fans a good show, he knew he could finish cote quick, but was doing his best to entertain fans at same . im no fan of sherk but he fought a good fight, having said that i still think griffin won and was robbed by the judges unanimous decision. griffin took it ez in the third round thinking he had the fight in the bag, but apparently he doesnt know the ufc judges like we do, they quite often see a diff fight then everyone else, unfortunate but like i said sherks performance did impress me , i just dont think he won that fight. was a soso ufc overall, not good not bad.

i have to disagree with you. Cote doesnt deserve a rematch. Silva was just toying around with him. Even if his knee was okay silva would surely go on and win. Cote did nothing to deserve a rematch. We have 5 silva fights left before he retires, do you want to waste one with Cote?

It was a good card, I really enjoyed it. Sherk – Griffin was a great fight. Sherk proved that he isn’t going to be an easy stepping stone for anyone, and at the same time Griffin proved that he isn’t too far away from that top 10 level that Sherk is at. Dos Santos announced the arrival of a new HW prospect. Maynard passed through a tough gatekeeper at LW, and is probably right there close to Nate Diaz in the LW rankings. I didn’t think Alves would beat Kos, but he dismantled the guy ranked #2-3 in most rankings, he is deserving of a shot at the GSP – BJ winner.

As far as Anderson Silva, I think that the hype is a little out of control at this point. he is the Pound for Pound king at this point, and hype is warranted but the ass kissing is out of control. They compared him to Roy Jones Jr. when he was coming in, and that is what I saw tonight. It looked like anytime Silva wanted to he could have turned it on and really made Cote eat some knees, and fist and he just kept dancing around. it was like watching a Roy Jones Jr. fight from about 10 years ago, when he was so much better than the competition, that you knew he could end it, but he let guys hang around with him. Me personally I would prefer it if he just destroyed the guy and moved on to the next victim. After the way Silva reacted to the end of the fight I wouldn’t be surprised if he moved back up to 205 for another fight either by the end of the year or at one of the January cards.

Jolly you are right, i didnt see the fight so i will preface it with that, but silva is one on the MOST respectful fighters in the UFC today. I can not ever see a situation when most of the people watching a fight that he is in saying the same thing. Seeing his background as a true martial artist (plus how sincerly he was pissed after the last Junie antic on TUF) I just don’t know what he could of done for you to think like that. In every fight I have seen him in, which is before the UFC, he has always been one the those fighters the represented the arts in its truest forms. But i will give you a little of the, be it small, doubt because again i did not get to see this night.
