the Levi on October 28th, 2008 8:46 pm

I think that the ref was a little slow in saving Werdum. The 5 shots Fabricio took after he went down were unecessary. The ref had to walk around a KOed Fabricio to look at his face to see if he was out, which should have been obvious.

Completely disagree. We're talking about a matter of a couple of seconds (literally- the KO punch landed at 3:44, the fight was stopped by 3:42) and the ref had to give Werdom a chance since he fell to the turtle position which is a viable defensive position. I far prefer a few strikes after the KO to a possible early stoppage, I found the timing to be entirely appropriate.

eh I wasn't very impressed with Santos win to be honest with you guys. I thought that he timed his upper cut nicely, but I don't think he'd be able to do it again if they had a rematch. Watch the fight and you'll notice how he throws the first uppercut because Werdum is make the mistake of bobbing his head to his right shoulder. Santos noticed this and then time his 2nd uppercut perfectly. I was really hoping to see the fight hit the ground. But how does Santos get to be on a televised card and yet we haven't seen Carwin on tv?

Dos Santos was around 235, I think he would struggle to make 205. Right now, he has to be put in the top prospect talk with Cain, and Carwin. He trains at a top camp and has a better win on his record than either of those guys.

I think Werdum will come back strong. He is still a top 10 HW in the world, he just got caught with an awsome punch.

This is the first fight of Dos Santos that I've seen and I have to see him fight again before I'm convinced this was'nt just a lucky punch that Werdum ducked right into.

I had Werdum winning this fight via submission. Until Cigano was announced as his opponent, I had never heard of him. I was reading the pre-fight breakdowns and learned that he was a part of the Black House. Once I heard that I thought Fabricio might be in for some trouble. It was his fight to lose and he did. He'll be back next year and try to climb the ranks again.

I don't know what Junior weighed in at but it looked like he could cut to 205? It will interesting to see who he fights next. I'd also like to see more Brazilian vs. Brazilian fight's in the UFC because 9 times out of 10 those bout's are nothing short of exciting.
