Matt Riddle’s debut as a welterweight that had been scheduled for UFC 91 on Nov. 15 will have to wait, as the former middleweight’s bout vs. Ryan Thomas is off due to an injury sustained while training.

The news was first reported by MMA Weekly.

According to the report, Riddle suffered a knee injury that will require surgery and is expected to sideline him for the next six-to-eight weeks.

The UFC has yet to confirm the report and a replacement for Thomas has yet to be named. It’s unclear whether there will be enough time to secure a replacement for Riddle.

Riddle, a former college wrestling standout, earned a UFC contract following an impressive showing during the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter. He cemented a spot within the promotion after recording a unanimous decision victory over Dante Rivera during the live TUF 7 finale this past June.

Riddle must have talked to Joe Rogan probably why he’s fighting at 170.
