I like the actual fighters included on your Top Ten PFP, but the order gets a bit strange in the second half of the list. Forrest Griffin and Lyoto Machida are ahead of ‘Minotauro’ Nogueira? That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I know Machida is undefeated, but his level of competition is nowhere near Nog’s impressive resume.

Also, I still have a huge issue with putting someone like Jake Shields so high on a list. I believe Shields is good. Very good. But until he is ready to step up and figtht the best (and it is HIS decision which organization he fights for), than I don’t think he deserves to be ranked ahead of guys like Fitch, Alves, and Hughes. All three may have losses (Fitch and Hughes to GSP, and Alves to Fitch), but they have losses because they are fighting against the very best. Shields has only beaten second or third tier competition. He doesn’t even have someone like Karo Parisyan to compare his skills against to boost him that high, let alone another top 5 WW. You just can’t put him at #2 for that.

This same logic applies to other fighters who I am not sure why are making your lists. Guys like Hieron and Matyushenko are good, but not top ten until they step up the competition.

Why is Tim Sylvia so low? Granted, he lost 3 of last 4 fights. But he lost to Couture, Nog, and Fedor. Prior to that, he beat Arlovski twice. Also, how can Liddel be so high? He’s lost 3 of last 4 fights as well, but to lower level competition (Jardine and Rashad are not on the same level as Couture, Nog, and Fedor).

I think Marquardt should be close to #5 or #6, I also think Jake Shields is top 5 but not #2, It’s pretty clear that Alves has #2 right now. I don’t care much for pound-for-pound because except for the top 5 those 5 should be there, the rest is up to interpratation.

I just looked at the WAMMA site and they have Alves ranked #4. Shields is #3. LMFAO. Shields wouldn’t even be able to touch him in a fight.

Marquardt, Akiyama, Trigg, Leites. There’s literally a laundry list of more accomplished fighters at MW than Lindland.

My comments are probably going to sound a little dickish but that’s not my intent. Just some of your rankings made me lol. Here are a couple of the more notable ones that stand out to me……

Mirko Crop at #10 – CroCop got embarrassed in the UFC. His only win in almost 2 years is against a 5 -4 professional wrestler. It’s a joke to have him in a top ten this point in time.

Lindland at #9 – Lindland has never beat a top ten MW ever, let alone faced one in the last 4 years. How can you be a top 10 fighter if you’ve never beaten one?

Thompson at # 10 – Pretty much the same argument for The Goat with the difference being that he has faced top ten competition. That top ten competition completely destroyed him. Losing both times in the first round and in convincing fashion. How can your “rankings” have any credibility when you have Thompson ranked above Parisyan?? I’m not even going to comment on Koschecks placing below Hughes….

Florian at #8 – Florian in a top ten is lol’ish but placing him above Sherk is ridiculous. All one has to do is compare the level of competition each has faced added to the way in which Sherk controlled his fight against Florian.

You really should change the title from rankings to opinions.
