Since when is a loss a crime in MMA?
Hell, Couture was 4-5 during a streak there.

Losing is not the end of the world in the UFC if you’ve kissed Dona White’s ass.
Just ask Patrick Cote. What was he? 0-4?

The UFC HW division has gone from weak to laughable.
I truly hope Sengoku does a HW tournament. Its been a while since the HW’s reigned MMA.

I love how the UFC nuthuggers can repeat the company line word for word.
Just like Apple fanbois.
I dont care about promoeters, I want to be entertained.
The last 2-3 UFC cards were pathetic and the Leben-Bisping one a downright embarassment. Having two mediocre reality TV prettty boys headline such a big card is just as bad as Shamrock/Kimbo headlining. I have no problems with either being on a card but dont try to convince me that those are headliners.

The UFC replacing their rosters with mediocre homegrown TUF sperm ingesting douchebags a la Leben because they come with a season’s worth of TV recognition behind them. Werdum is a world champion BJJ and over the last 2 years has fought Overeem, Aleksandar, Nog, Arlovski so he’s experienced. I’d rather watch him than Shane Carvin or the clown with the phallus on his chest.

It is hard to criticize the business decisions of Zuffa, they are one of two large scale MMA companies making money (Strikeforce), and they make money because they don’t hold onto fighters who are overpaid. After a loss like that, it is going to be very hard for Zuffa to market Werdum as a major player. He was never as dominate as GSP or Faber (both champions) before his big loss, so his climb back will be steeper as well. From just a fan stand point, Werdum’s overall record is that of a top 10 HW, and UFC could use the depth at the HW division, so I really don’t like seeing him go, but then again, this looks like a business decision, and I’m sure he won’t have a hard time finding work with Strikeforce, Affliction, or Dream.

Robert, we blame the UFC for somethings. This I cannot blame them for. Werdum essentially was next in line for a shot at the champ, he lost to Dos Santos, pretty much making him overpayed overnight! Say what you want but its true, Werdum got worked by a better up-and-coming fighter.

My sentiments exactly, I completely agree with Tony Fennen.Not one entertaining fight from Werdum.Watching this man fight made both of my eye lids fall asleep.I was raged that this man actually got a contract with the ufc for being so god damn boring at fighting, seriously this man sucks at making entertaining fights.For anyone that actually misses him, than the UFC is not for you and can do without your negative inexperienced mma analysis of why this was a “bad decision”.
Besides, the heavyweights in the UFC organization are teeming with talent, so all you numbnuts saying it’s thinning out, prove that you have your heads so far up your A§§es that you haven’t got a clue about anything in the ufc or mma by any means.Go watch EliteXC with kimbo slice and talk about cung le you pinheads.The people who are criticizing the HW division of the UFC need to move on from ufc as you apparently know d!ck about this organization or the fighter in general.This was a perfect decision and it happened for a reason.I am Stoked this guy got the boot, as I would rather watch water evaporate!

Werdum closed his eyes to throw a half ass punch and got knocked COLD and then pounded out. You want to see him fight for a belft again Randy, Nog, Mir or even Lesnar? I dont

Um, Watch again- both he and Faber lost in virtually the same manner. Faber’s just went a little longer before the knockdown that lead to the loss. They were even in exactly the same turtle position when the stoppages occurred.

Speaks to what UFC wants to do and how they will handle their fighters. If anything the fighters that are in line for “gimme wins” should be on high alert and not come in the octagon under prepared.
Either way Werdrum’s exit doesn’t affect what will happen to the HW division. This guy was never going to be champion.

This sucks. But i have to believe a lot of this falls on Werdum. I assume the UFC wanted him to take a pay cut. And rightfully so… he’s 2-2 in the UFC, and the Vera win was really the only one where we saw the “real” Fabricio Werdum. If he wants to be a “B” Level fighter, he should be paid like one. I’ve always been a huge fan of Werdum but he has underachived massively. Maybe a change of scenery will be good for him. A possible return to a ring instead of the cage will better too i assume.

This sucks. Werdum is one of my favorite fighters and think he is one of the better hw’s out there. It’s not like the UFC has great depth at hw.

Meh, sucks that the division is a little thinner (especially around the waistline, ho ho) but has Werdum really had any impressive wins? He was 2-2 with only his win over Gonzaga that was decisive.

The UFC probably saw him as a bad investment entertainment-wise. He’s a talented grappler but a pretty dull fighter.

How can anyone say they don’t blame the UFC? They clearly low balled him after a loss and he’s moving on. People never want to admit the UFC made a mistake with a fighter’s contract. Werdum is not the first fighter to take an opponent lightly and pay for it, if you want to get rid of all the fighters who have done this they’ll be a long line.

Slightly surprised at that move. Werdum was a decent challenger in the thin heavyweight division. While he did look totally out of shape his last fight, and got KO’d badly I don’t think I would have tried to renegotiate his contract off of one fight. Probably best for Werdum in the long run, he can probably get some good offers elsewhere. Nothing as high profile as in the UFC but decent enough.
