Combat Sambo, which is what Fedor fights in, ISN’Y the same as traditional Sambo. Don’t get the confused. Combat Sambo is much more like MMA.

There is a fourm on Sherdog reporting that Blagoi Ivanov has in fact signed with Affliction. The Sherdog Fight Finder states that his record in MMA is 14-0 -1. That is impressive at any rate. It might not be a bad idea to match these two up in the futue given the current storyline. It’s all about promotion these days’s.

I would like to see Emelianenko vs. Barnett first should they both win in January. I honestly think Fedor isn’t going to lose again except maybe to Nogueira in the UFC if that ever happened, just my opinon. Fedor’s first loss was a farce and he waxed TK in their second bout. I hope he steps into the Octagon by mid-2010…one can only hope.

How stupid people are -.- why would you want someone to fight in mma when he never taken headarmor off in his life and he is pro on takedowns but strikes i dont think so!

like some guys said fedor is brown belt at every style of the fight this guys who beat fedor only blackbelt in sambo, i think if he comes to mma and vs Fedor then goodluck on him and his face.

sambo is actually one of the closest combat sports in terms of mma with the striking and throws and ground control.

He got outpointed because Combat Sambo is Judo-friendly in terms of how they appropriate points. Fedor actually knocked the guy down, and his opponent was given a standing 8 count. Somewhat rare because of the head gear used. Even at that, a Judo throw is worth more than knocking a guy to a standing 8, resulting in the loss.

Kudos to Ivanov, but don’t kid yourself. Fedor would dominate the guy in MMA, and I’m guessing the President’s Cup will still any fears of Fedor’s imminent demise.

I am curious to see who win’s the trilogy. It exciting to see Fedor having an equal on some level and so far…this is it. I’ll bet Emelianenko comes in determined for the President’s Cup as I’m certain he doesn’t care to lose with Vladamir Putin watching in person.

For what it’s worth, maybe Affliction should sign this guy to a contract? He beat Fedor in Sambo but what about MMA? Let’s see…

I heard Fedor was filming a movie in Thailand less than 2 weeks before competing in this tournament. Probably was not training in his normal routine and it caught up with him.He already beat his opponent previously so I chalk this up to a fluke victory.
