Flying from Russia to the US, then hopping from city-to-city in the US, then flying back to Russia isn't a "three or four day" break from training. Coupling in the long flights and debilitating jet lag, that would disrupt his training for at least a good 10 days about six weeks out from the fight, which is understandably unacceptable.

Also, if you're going to say that it's "unfair" that Arlovski has to do a press junket and Fedor doesn't, consider that Arlovski currently lives and trains in LA, and the press stops are LA, Las Vegas, and New York, or maybe the equivalent of if this fight in were in Russia with press stops in Stary Oskol, St. Petersburg, and Omsk for Fedor. Under either scenario it would be significantly more draining for one fighter rather than the other, so I don't think it's much of an issue.

I bet Affliction just doesn't want to pay Fedor's airfare. They're going to bare bones it all the way up to the fight. (And it still might not happen.)

Is a three or four day break from training to help stoke interest for the fight going to be the difference between winning and losing for Fedor? Of course not. Besides, Arlovski didn't look all that sharp in that fight against Nelson.

And if Arlovski has to go on a media blitz tour in Fedor's place, that's pretty unfair to him. Both fighters should have to take a break at the same time.
