G-Dub has a good point, i’m both a boxing and mma fan. Last week I ordered the De La Hoya fight just because there was no other fight that night, I was going to do the same with Affliction but now this great fight for free on HBO changes my mind. So IMO its going to have a pretty big impact on the PPV buys. Besides who knows how many more times the card is going to change. Rumor has the CSAC wont give Gilbert Yvel a liscense but im not sure if thats true.

The boxing absolutely WILL have an impact of Affliction buys. “2 totally different demographics” …… really?? They are not exactly the same demographic, but there is a HUGE percentage overlap. I fall in that overlap. I was already on the fence about purchasing the Afflction card (weak card overall) …. the free great boxing match was the final nail in the coffin.

Sucks for Affliction, but I think everybody realized that their “partnership” isnt really one at all. Was a good way to distract people from cancelling the October show though.

The thing I think I saw people were saying oh you have a big boxing PPV and MMA PPV in the same market on the same day, but I think the boxing is not PPV, its on regular HBO. So look, fuck the partnership and all that, that is a good boxing match, on free HBO, and you know UFC will be airing UFC 91 that same night, you know it. Aff is in trouble, I dont even think that card is that great, I mean for an org that puts on a show every 4 months, 6 months, that is weak. Fedor and AA is a great fight, but after that its week, Barnett vs some joke, I think Aff should have stopped this bullshit, let Fedor and them go to the UFC, do a deal with the UFC where Aff clothing brand is a major sponsor of the UFC, the fighters can wear the shirts and shit, and everyone wins. I mean if this PPV doesnt do 500k PPV buys, they are done, Fedor should be in the UFC anyway, Fedor vs Brock, what a huge fight.

This isn’t a partnership at all, when it comes to helping both groups be as successful as possible. The partnership really is just built around some T-shirts. “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer” comes to mind in an MMA v boxing sense.
