Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos to battle Marloes Coenen at XMMA 7: Inferno

XMMA has announced that EliteXC veteran Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos will battle Marloes Coenen at XMMA 7: Inferno on Friday, February 27 in Montreal, Quebec.

Santos, a member of the Chute Boxe Academy, possesses a mixed martial arts record of 6-1. Santos had an impressive year securing victories over Shayna Baszler and Yoko Takahashi. Santos was on a collision course with EliteXC star Gina Carano before the company ceased operations in October.

Coenen, a native of Deventer, Holland, possesses a mixed martial arts record of 16-2. Coenen owns victories over the likes Yoko Takahashi, Keiko Tamai, and Yuuki Kondo.

XMMA 7: Inferno will also feature UFC veteran Phil Baroni, Martin Desilets, Todd Gouwenberg, Steve Claveau, Kajan Johnson, and Doug Evans.

    David Loiseau( XMMA fighter and co-promoter) lost a ticket back to the UFC when he lost to Jason Day. Then sets himself up to win a paper title in his next fight. TKO left a void alright, but XMMA isn’t interested in giving us the fights we want to see. If that was the case Loiseau would fight someone real for a title, and Cyborg would be fighting Sarah Kaufmann. Nothing against Coenen, her record says she’s pretty good, but I would have liked to see local Kaufmann in a real fight.

    Your input is priceless.
    Anyway this is shaping up to be a very good card minus Eddie Alvarez and hopefully a Cyborg vs. Carano fight happens.
    Because besides that a CroCop / Ortiz, Shamrock / Shamrock, Shamrock / Abbott, Ortiz / Babalu, Ortiz / Shamrock or a Liddell / CroCop fight are the only bigger fights possible for 2009. Unless you want to include Kimbo vs Sapp.
