That Greasy Canadian flat out cheated in UFC 94 and everybody knows it now! It is also a well known FACT to any grapler in the art of BJJ that without beaing able to defend from the gaurd (because of a grased up opponent) you have a VERY good chance of loosing to a seasoned striker who has you oin your back. Yes GSP is a GREAT fighter and outclassed Penn in a LOT of way isn that fight….but c’mon….cheating is cheating. He didnt NEED to cheat to win. But the fact that the footage shows he was practicaly lathered in

The UFC is on it, good job.

Small point Bryan, Kizer and the commission were unable to get to GSP after Vaseline was applied to him between the 1st and 2nd rounds. He entered round two with Vaseline on him, nobody was able to wipe him down.

That incident is what caused the commission to be on their toes, they were able to make attempts at wiping it off later.

Now this BS can never happen again, good move by the UFC.

If there is anything we can all take away from this mess, it’s that the fans on the internet have the power to change these sorts of things for the better. If the whole internet fanbase hadn’t been whipped into such a frenzy this would have blown over without much mention.

Now we just need something to deal with the sometime random nature of the judging. The new Japanese open scoring system is interesting, because it actually holds judges accountable for their results. Some people don’t like it because it’s not a surprise at the end, but really how exciting is a decision anyways unless its after an epic battle (which rarely go to decision anyways)? Another plus side is a fighter really knows what he needs to do in order to win the fight, how many people have been hosed by surprise decisions? It seems to happen often to certain guys like Chris Lytle.

The UFC made the right move. Cornermen naturally want to give their fighter every advantage; And grease can deter submissions. Remove the grease and temptation is eliminated.. Neutral cutmen are much less likely to cheat.

No matter whether vaseline affected the outcome of the GSP, BJ Penn bout or not, the controversy highlighted a problem which has now been addressed.
