I don’t see where all this venom for Bonnar is coming from. He is far from boring. He is willing to stand and trade and he stays very active when the fight goes to the mat.

Am I off base here?

ctownhood – If you think Bonnar is that exciting then I think you are overreacting. And the lw divison is too stacked for him to oeven be a gate keeper ..

Your logic could work on Bonnar just easily as you referred it too Clementi .. Too each hsi own , id rather watch Clementi fight anyday of the week over Bonnar.

And the UFC is all about ‘ What have you done for me lately ” , so if Bonnar keeps losing I wouldnt be surprised at all if they dropped him.

Hexdizzle, I think you’re overreacting a little here. Clementi is a good fighter, yes. But, I think the LW division is a little too stacked for a guy like him to even be a gatekeeper. Releasing him is probably best for him, he’ll end up in an organization where he can compete, Strikeforce would be a good place.
Bonnar is boring? He was involved in the single most important fight in UFC history! His 2 fights with Forrest are classics!!!

Its a huge mistake to let go of a fighter who always brings it. This solidifies my distaste for the UFC and it practices. I know that every fighter should bring the fight upon entering the octagon but there are way worst no heart having, over hyped and over paid fighters in the UFC. For the UFC to get rid of Rich Clementi only weakens their roster of exciting and crowd pleasing fighters. Please UFC get rid of Stephen Bonner he is so much more boring and unexciting a fighter than Rich.

As for the Johnson fight that is being referred to. He won mostly on experience and the fact that it was a last minute fight and Johnson was competely gassed after a few minutes. Even today, if both of those guys are fresh, Clementi likely loses that fight.

Agreed on him easily finding another job.

I like this guy and I think the UFC is losing on this decision.

5-5 UFC Record. Showed a complete lack of ability on the ground in his last two fights. I think that is really what did it for him being cut.

I disagree with this , This guy brings it every fight and doesnt back down from anybody. His Maynard fight was just a bad matchup and maynard chose too LnP too get the W..

Tibau beat him but Rich beat Guillard and Rumble Johnson pretty easily ..

I agree with the rest that he shouldnt have a prob finding a place too fight.

Every time I’ve seen him fight he puts on an exciting performance but he’s too inconsistent. Maybe Strikeforce will pick him up.
