If the meds were related to injury, perhaps he's still feeling the effects of the torn hamstring that was discussed during the fight. Rogan and Goldberg pointed out that physical signs of the tear were still visible, and that Karo's use of the particular leg (can't remember which one) was impaired.

Beans: Opiate pain killers are definitely not performance enhancing in the same way that steroids or growth hormone would be considered, as they do not enhance a fighter's strength or endurance. Drugs like methamphetamine or cocaine are able to enhance stamina and focus, but narcotics do exactly the opposite.

The only reason athletes use pain killers is to allow them to practice their sport without constant pain. Bodybuilders use Nubain and other narcotics to allow them to push their joints into the growth zone, as steroids strengthen muscles, but do not affect soft tissue like cartilage and ligaments. Brett Favre was addicted to pain killers for years, just to get out on the field and play with all the nagging bumps and bruises, as well as accumulated injuries over the years of playing quarterback in the NFL.

Most likely Karo Parisyan was dealing with a chronic injury of some sort, and used pain killers to allow him to train and to fight. The danger there is all opiate pain killers are physically addictive, and are also subject to abuse, as they induce a euphoric high in higher doses. As a profesional, Parisyan will have to deal with the consepquences of using banned substances, and will most likely face fines and possibly suspension.

I thought Kim won that fight anyway, best outcome for Kim I would think would be for it to be called a no contest.

I wonder what Karo was taking this for? It doesn't sound like a performance enhancer but I don't really know. Perhaps this would be catergorized under drugs of abuse. By the looks of things most of those wouldn't do too much in the way of helping you during a fight.
