Efrain Escudero off UFN 18 card due to injury

Season eight lightweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter Efrain Escudero has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled fight against Jeremy Stephens that had been set to take place at UFC Fight Night 18 on April 1.

Sources close to the fighter revealed to FiveOuncesOfPain.com earlier this afternoon that Escudero was injured while training. MMA Weekly has also issued a similar report.

Escudero, 11-0, won the TUF 8 lightweight crown during the live finale for the show this past December. Facing fellow finalist Phillipe Nover, Escudero took the crown via unanimous decision victory.

A standout wrestler on the collegiate level, nine of the Arizona native’s 11 victories have come by way of submission.

As of now, there is no word as to whether Stephens will remain on the card against a replacement fighter. UFN 18 is still scheduled to be headlined by a welterweight bout featuring former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit taking on Martin Kampmann.
