A one-year suspension by the California State Athletic Commission for allegedly testing positive for three separate steroids has cost Ken Shamrock one of his final opportunities for a significant pay day as a professional fighter.
According to FiveOuncesofPain.com multi-media partner The Fight Network, the camp for Bobby Lashley has confirmed that Roy Jones Jr.’s Square Ring Promotions, the promoter of the March 21 hybrid boxing/MMA pay-per-view “March Badness,” has confirmed that the event will go on as planned and that a replacement opponent is being sought.
A separate report by MMAWeekly.com’s Insider Blog also quotes the Florida Boxing Commission as stating that it will honor the one-year suspension handed down to Shamrock by CSAC.
Still slated for the “March Badness” event is a light heavyweight boxing bout between Roy Jones Jr. and Omar Sheika, a heavyweight MMA matchup featuring Roy Nelson vs. Jeff Monson, and Lashley vs. an opponent yet to be deterimed. A previously announced light heavyweight matchup between Seth Petruzelli and Doug Marshall was scrapped after Petruzelli was forced to withdraw due to injury.
