I would feel differently if he was 23 now instead of 28, but usually by 28 some natural weight increase has already happened. That doesn't bode well for him naturally carrying the weight. At the same time, I would agree with Angry Mike that this is going to continue to be a problem for Zuffa as long as the pay levels are so different between the organizations. Torres would actually have to bulk up to 165 or 170 without losing speed and mobility, and that's a big challenge. He's very good at 135, but he hasn't blown out everybody he's faced. Maeda was a much tougher fight than I expected. Fighting at 155 may be too ambitious. much as I hate to say it, the real issue here is that WEC fighters don't make as much as their counterparts in the UFC, and that's because WEC doesn't have ppv revenues. The guys in WEC need to make more, and that means paying for WEC instead of watching it for free. I agree with sicmma.
