Sergei Kharitonov, Jeff Monson and Murilo “Ninja” Rua announced for Dream 8
The officials from the Dream organization have announced a number of additional bouts for the Dream 8 event which will see the kick off of the Dream Welterweight Grand Prix.
Dangerous Pride FC veteran, Sergei Kharitonov will be making his return to Dream against Jeff “The Snowman” Monson. Kharitonov most recently finished Jimmy Ambriz with strikes for Dream back in September, while Monson is fresh off of a narrow, hard fought decision over Roy Nelson.
It was announced that Murilo “Ninja” Rua will face off Yoon Dong Sik. This will be Ninja’s first return to action since his October slugfest with Benji Radach, which he ended up on the losing end of. Dong Sik once had 47 straight victories in Judo competition, but since making the move to MMA he has gone 4-6, dropping his last two bouts.
Shungo Oyama has agreed to step in for the injured Zelg Galesic to take on Andrews Nakahara in a middleweight bout.
Shinya Aoki vs. Mach Sakurai was the first bout announced for the welterweight grand prix. Other tournament bouts made public will see UFC veteran John Allesio squaring off with Andre Galvao in his Dream debut, Yuya Shirai will face off with Jason High, and Marius Zaromskis has a scheduled meeting with Seichi Ikemoto.
Dream 8 is scheduled for April 5, 2009 and will take place at the Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan.
