Jardine’s losses have been to aggressive fighters who have ko’d him. Unless Silva has become cautious due to his loss to Machida, I don’t think Jardine can keep Silva at a distance, so I predict it’s lights out for the Dean.

In most divisions, Jardine would be too dangerous to be called a gatekeeper, but we are talking about the stacked LHW division. I dunno. Maybe he’s more of a spoiler. He’s obviously not good enough to be a champ (yet, at least), but he’s clearly too good to be what you would consider a gatekeeper. Maybe he’s a gatekeeper in training. If Thiago beats him, it puts him right back into contendership, but I don’t see Jardine ever getting a shot at this rate. Consistency is extremely important at that level.

I don’t know about Keith having KO power…. aside from his TKO of Forrest when was the last time he cleanly knocked someone out. He’s more of a wear you out kind of guy, so if Silva gasses then he’ll be in for a tough night.

However if Silva lands a clean shot on Keith we definitely know how weak Jardine’s chin is… so it could be another highlight reel KO against him.

Jardine is more than a gatekeeper, more than a journeyman who has topped out in his career. He is a dangerous, unpredictable, unorthodox fighter, with awkward but powerful strikes, knockout power, and the kind of full body strength that makes him treacherous on the ground for any opponent. Yes, consistency has been a problem, but he’s consistently fought some of the best fighters in the game, coming out with results any fighter can be proud of.

Thiago Silva is not in for an easy evening against Jardine. While Thiago had great early success, his knockout loss to Machida leaves him in a position where victory will not be enough. A decision against Jardine only poses more questions. A decisive submission or knockout victory would illustrate that Silva deserves to be considered among the top light heavy weights in the UFC, and should be considered worthy of re-entry into the title picture. I see a similar scenario for Jardine, where a strong victory should earn him further consideration in the competition for the belt.

while Jardine has wins over Liddell and Griffin. He is far from consistent enough for a title shot with 2 wins in a row IMO, Now if he wins and fought the loser of Machida v Evans and won a title shot could be reasonable, if Griffin loses to Anderson. More likely if he wins he gets a rematch against Griffin though.

did they just say if Jardine wins this fight he would be one win away from a title shot? what the heck is that dude on? after the Rashad/Machida fight Rampage is in line, and IMO if Anderson beats Forrest he should be next. Jardine should be 3 or 4 fights away from the title picture.
