Kevin Randleman returns against Mike Whitehead at June 6 Strikeforce event

UFC and PRIDE veteran Kevin “The Monster” Randleman will make his return to the mixed martial arts following a hiatus from the sport that lasted just over one year when he faces off with Mike Whitehead at a Strikeforce event scheduled for June 6.

The bout will be part of the live televised portion of the card and will take place at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Randleman is a former two time Division I NCAA Champion and a former UFC heavyweight champion. His last appearance saw him end up on the winning end of a unanimous decision over Ryo Kawamura at Sengoku II during May of 2008. Prior to the bout with Kawamura, Randleman had been on the shelf for a year and a half after going 4-7 under the PRIDE banner.

Whitehead is a former Ultimate Fighter participant that has fought for the UFC, the IFL, the WEC, and Affliction to name just a few. His last outing saw him submit Leo Pla in the first round of an M-1 Challenge event in October of 2008.
