this is a well masterminded move by the U.F.C, The Ratings on T.U.F have been on a downhill slide for along time,And all of a sudden, WOW, OUT POP’S KIMBO! wow, that’s coincedence? No they set a all H.W Season up for some thing.The 185 and the H.W divisions are the Weakest in the U.F.C. As far as the not Fighting to get into the house.There is probabaly not enough guy’s @ H.W to compete for the Show.Kimbo will not make it.I If by some chance he does,Hill will be mauled in the H.W division. That’s called a Win for the U.F.C. And Kimbo makes Himself a Bigger name.And that is called Business!!!!

Bas stopped with Kimbo long before this could have possibly been in motion. He implied that Kimbo wasn’t training hard and didn’t have enough dedication to make his training investment worthwhile… and that had been going on long before the Petruzelli KO. Guys that don’t train hard don’t hang around too long.

I doubt that White or UFC will set Kimbo with cans or cupcakes. That could backfire and damage UFC and TUF. No fighter is worth damaging either, and I can’t imagine that UFC or White would take that risk for Kimbo.

Some great commentary so far. Well-said, gents. This is a win/win situation for all parties involved (TUF, Slice, and the UFC). If you run into a critic just remind him Kimbo’s 3-1 professional record is better than Amir Sadollah as well as a few other previous contestants.

dpk: you hit it right on the head. Having Kimbo on the show will guarantee great ratings and an interesting season. They could not risk having Kimbo eliminated in the preliminary rounds just fighting to get into the house. A ‘Kimbo’ season without Kimbo would not work for them. So, go against the format of the last few seasons and guarantee that he will be in the house, win or lose, for the entire season (unless he walks off or gets kicked off). His appearance on TUF also explains why they went against the other format concept of having two weight classes…they want it to be the Kimbo show.

Depending on the caliber of fighters they bring in Kimbo could have a decent chance of winning it. If they bring in a cast like TUF9, he could walk away with it. If they bring in real fighters like in season 1 and 2, then he could get eliminated very early…but at least he would still be in the house.

I get the idea they will bring in a bunch of wannabe’s who will flop to Kimbo. Dana is a marketing machine and putting Kimbo through TUF, with the pretense that he is actually fighting UFC candidate caliber fighters will give TUF unbelievable ratings. When he wins it by beating a bunch of stiffs, the UFC can market the hell out of him when they roll him into the UFC. Imagine the PPV buys (and mockery) that a Kimbo vs. Lesnar match would generate (and mockery).

…or they put him in against real competition and take their chances that he gets knocked out. It would validate all of Dana’s trash talk towards Kimbo if he got eliminated or let them really introduce him into the UFC as a real contender. Either way, UFC wins.

I have to say, major kudos to Ferguson for stepping up and taking the challenge. I think most people’s criticisms of him were not that he was a lousy or incapable fighter but that he was being overhyped as something he wasn’t, which was as the prime example of what a MMA fighter is. That was obviously the fault of the Shaws and EliteXC so hopefully he will learn some new skills and shine on TUF. Kudos to him for not letting them push him into boxing (as I believe the most recent rumour went).

season 10 is going to be AWESOME!!!!!

I cant wait.

I am not sure if I am a minority, but I freaking love watching TUF each week and prefer when there isnt too much destructive drama. For my wife & I it is like a ritual.

Two things. Rampage coaching Kimbo will be strange but hilarious. Kimbo will show up out of shape, relatively at least, and will get taken down and held there by any heavyweight with half a brain.
