Strikeforce: Villasenor vs. Cyborg set for June 19

The second edition of Showtime’s Strikeforce Challengers series has been made official with a headlining bout between middleweights Joey Villasenor and Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos.

The event is set to air live on Showtime and is scheduled to take place at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington on June 19.

Villasenor is currently riding a three fight win streak with his most recent victory being a first round TKO over Phil Baroni way back in May of 2008. The bout with Cyborg will mark Villasenor’s first return to action in more than a year.

Cyborg is a feared striker out of the Chute Boxe Academy and Brazil. He is also the husband to the top female fighter that shares the same nickname, Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos.

Outside of the main event this Strikeforce Challengers card is absolutely stacked with intriguing clashes. Some of the standouts set for action at the event are Tim Kennedy, Nick Thompson, Lyle Beerbohm, Jore Gurgel, Duane Ludwig, Dennis Hallman, Shayna Baszler and Sarah Kaufman.
