Meatloaf i like your style. Come to think about it Shields probably is the reason Diaz is fighting for the title. Now i hate Shields again.

Shields got lucky against Lawler and if he fights Jacare or Lindland in October for an interim title he’ll lose.
Then probably ask Scott Coker to fight at 170. Even after refusing to take fights at 170 before the Lawler fight which prompted a Nick Diaz move to 170 even though he’s looked awesome at middleweight.
Shields is on borrowed time even if he manages to pull out another win in October he’ll get murdered in a Lawler rematch.
Diaz vs. Lawler 2 is the fight I hope to hell happens eventually.

Hey now, “Fighting” did get 2 stars in USA Today……

Bung Le should be let out of his contract and Shields should just fight whomever for the MW title. All those names are suitable opponents.

I’m just glad to see Strikeforce do something with their MW title. If Cung wants to go off and make a bunch of crappy movies he should vacate the title and let the dedicated fighters fight for it. Cung’s a great fighter, but if he doesn’t want to get in the cage he should get out of the way of the guys that do.

Edud I think Diaz is the better MW due to his tougness and better striking. Unlike Shields he has no real wrestling to rely on but his ground game is far superior to most. He is tough enough to not get knocked out and his boxing has looked better and better. Shields is a great fighter, but at MW I like Diaz better.

WTF. why the hell did they move shields up to Mw. he is better as a WW in my opinion. They should of left Diaz at Mw where he is the better fighter and let him fight for the interim belt. A bout between cung and diaz sounds more exciting than a bout between shields and cung.

I hate shields at mw vs bigger guys like Benji or Santiago.

dpk, I’m pretty sure Shields has a few fights left on his contract with Strikeforce.
If memory serves me correct I think when they bought his contract from EliteXC it was a long term deal.
And you’re right Misaki, Filho, Lindland would all be good opponents.

I know why Shields isn’t fighting at WW in Strikeforce anymore, because he doesn’t want to fight his teammate Diaz, but does anyone know if he is done as a WW forever? Also, does anyone know of his contract status with Strikeforce, there was talk of him negotiating with UFC while the EliteXC contracts were hung up last year, and I think he would be a great fight for GSP. I would imagine that UFC would love to grab him if he was available.
