Anyways, Tito messed up the submission by trying to transition into an armbar instead of rolling with the mounted triangle. That loss was credited to Tito, not because of machida. Look how lopsided the loss was for anderson silva when he was submitted by Ryo Chonan. He dominated the entire fight up until the flying scissor heel hook. Rio didn’t try to transition into a kneebar hence the submission win. He would have been the first to beat machida (machida was a bit lazy and didnt know tito had submissions like that, which is understandable since he never won a fight in his life by triangle). Don’t shortchange tito for almost beating machida. Its a fact.”

Im not neccesarily arguing with anything you said man, but u gotta stop saying its a fact after every opinion u put down. I laugh everytime you do it.

A win is a win no matter how you get it. Sure tito had him but he DIDN”T finish him. He was losing the entire fight up til the last 30 sec or so when machida got caught with a triangle.

This won;t be an exciting fight to see, tito will beat and old coleman. The ufc matching (jos silva) needs to be replaced, b/c his match making SUCKS!

wow, that fight was anything but close, to think back, the superise Triangle Choke was the only thing Ortiz ever got in that fight (and he couldnt finish it lol).

I also recall Machida throwing Ortiz off him like he was a toddler.

lol a possible rematch with Machida now would put him in the ground

not counting out colmen but a 100% tito (god help me) is a dangerous man. he gets colmen down on his back well it will be over very quickly. I love colmen and i would love for him to just kick the crap out of tito but i dont see it happening. I think rampage will fight tito cause the $$$$ will be to much to turn down and like rampage has said in the past he has a family to take care of. and the risk of sounded like a novice but i didnt see the comments rampage made. what did he say????

What is with everyone and the coleman hating? Do you guys realise that he maybe trained only an hour at most for all of his most recent fights? That’s why he used to run out of steam all the time. And if you pay attention to his fights, you’ll notice he’s always dominant while fresh before fatigue sets in. Fast forward to Bonnar fight…he dominates because he was in shape and changed his camp to xtreme couture. They whipped him into shape real nice and now he’s back to dominating for the most part. This is a much harder fight for Tito than it seems. You have to realise something, no matter how long ago or how old he is, he is still a former champion from a time when it was round robin tournies with less restrictive rules. If he was in the same shape for the shogun fight as he was vs bonnar, he would have easily won (i know shogun was still not %100 from his surgeries but its a fact). Don’t count out or discredit such an awsome warrior of old, I guarantee the fight will be exciting. Coleman believe it or not is a few wins away from a title shot. If Tito beats him THEN I’d look for a fight with Jon Jones which I would love to see. You mentioned that Tito hasn’t won in a long time since the Shamrock Trilogy, which is true, but the unique flipside of the coin is that he hasn’t been defeated by anyone but legends (liddel / couture) and the best fighter in the game at the moment (machida)…and before the flaming starts about anderson being better than machida, anderson pretty much conceded that he’s not better than lyoto and is not interested in finding out.

Coleman vs Couture would be the battle of the dinosaurs…
Tito vs Coleman is interesting but its going to turn into a wrestling match.

I’d like to see Tito fight Rashad or Rampage down the road.

Cantwell would be great but the scary thing is i think he can beat Tito wich is why i think ufc didnt put that one together knowing that could happen. they have to be careful with Tito cause he can still help any PPV so they have to ride him out with easy fights until they are done with him. I dont see Colmen lasting that long with Tito and gassing out first. Tito is a fitness freak and if he is 100% like he claims he will be this one will be a very easy one

Moose for a tuneup I would have liked to see him against a younger guy like Steve Cantwell for instance. A former WEC champion whos td defense hasnt been tested but can provide a stern test for Tito to see if he still belongs in the upper echelon of the division.

Against Coleman is probably on par with the difficulty factor of the Cantwell fight but it wont really show how much Titos got left win or lose IMO.

@shotokai- I’m not saying these guys aren’t a good draw I just don’t see this being a exciting fight to watch. I see Ortiz with a TKO do to strike early in rd 1. But I could also see it being a fight where both guys gas after the 1st round and it becomes one of those who ever is laying on top of the other at the end of the fight gets the win thing. I know the fight will be on the main card and might even be the co-main event depending on what else they put on the card, I just hope I’m wrong and it turns out to be an exciting fight, I would just have rather seen tito in a fight with someone more relevant in the sport atm then a guy on his way out.

I agree, the light heavyweight division is stacked to the rafters and there aren’t many fighters, maybe like 3 I can think of, that fit the “tune-up fight” bill. Coleman is one of them though. And you could argue that Ortiz deserves it. Real serious back surgery and he couldn’t do anything for over a year, that’s saying something in this sport. Furthermore the UFC knows that if Ortiz gets a W on his return he could become a very marketable commodity for them again (and at a much cheaper price!).
So I can see the logic behind this, and despite it being wrestler vs wrestler, has been vs has been, etc etc, I’m still looking forward to watching this fight considerably.

BigDave why would they put this fight on the under card? That would be a very silly decision. Coleman and Ortiz are still big draws for hardcore fans (out of fascination if nothing else) AND, more significantly, they’re a draw to casuals, especially Ortiz. Plus the fact that they are probably paying Coleman and Ortiz together more than they will pay the rest of the under card fighters. But yeah you’re right, they should put them on the undercard, good idea.
